Got the number today.....

Took my girl(L99) to the Dr. today (Service center). Had three damage spots from something hitting my car, one noticable dent, rest just paint damage. Well, they washed the car completely and then two body men and the head paint guy spent an hour just looking for damage to my paint......

They found 13 spots that needed to be repaired. The dented section would cost more then my insurance deductible so they recommended getting everything fixed from this incident.....

In the end, front end, both front quarters, both back quarters, roof and both mirrors will need to be fixed and repainted...... DAMN!!!

Total quote came to $3400!!! About the only thing that will not get repainted will be the truck and rear end. Went to the insurance company and they OKed it with no questions.

I guess the silver lining is that I have a MPD1 Z-force hood on order that should be showing up soon. They told me they would likely have to paint over the front quarter panels to match paint which could add up to $400 to the total. Now that they will need to be repainted to repair paint damage, that cost will not be on my dime. Deductible will make up for that though!!!

RJT is a spendy color to repaint apparently but when its done, should be show room condition again, maybe I will leave it in the garage!!! NO WAY!!!

Sucks to get your car damaged by some careless or mindless person and then have to pay for it to get fixed, at least insurance is doing its job.

Wow. Reading these types of threads makes me scared to think that my car is out sitting in a college campus parking lot with no video cameras right now... :yikes:

11 of the 13 spots they said needed to be repaired were simple rock chips. They said they could touch them up with touch-up paint, sand and then hit with clear coat but you would still be able to see every one. That would be the CHEAP fix. They said the correct way would be to sand down and start from the base coat on up, when done you would never know it had been done.

Only problem is that when you do this, especially with RJT color, they said it can be a requirement to blend in the new paint to get it to match which results in painting ALOT more of the car then just the problem spots.....

It took me about a minute to decide which way to go. this is my dream car, there is a reason we pay high insurance rates for these cars, and I intend to get my moneys worth from this incident and get the car fixed properly.

Its funny though, ya go in to get a quote for a little dent, one chip and a scratch in the paint and come out planning on pretty much repainting your car!!!
