2006 GTO 1/4 guesses?

a buddy of mine is bringing his GTO to the track this weekend and he is very confident to run low 12s i told him NO WAY. he has shorty headers, a "light cam", varam intake, and cat deleted exhaust. he dyno'd 395 to the wheels and about the same in torque. its a 6 speed manual. and hes on stock tires not DR's. i told him 13 flat to high 12s at BEST. he said im wrong. what do you guys think?

so his mods varam intake, shorty headers, "light" cam, catless exhaust, stock street tires. 395whp 400wtq. what do you guys think?

If he can drive i could see a low 12 maybe. more likley though he cant drive and will probably run the times you said, maybe a mid 12 if he can half way drive lol

low to mid 13's would be my guess...

Stock tires and and a stick car, he will be 13.0 to 14.0 at best.

NEVER going to run low 12s! My buddy runs low 12s with his 05 on drag radials, stalled and cammed making 420 to the wheels. He probably has 11s in it, but his avg is 12.20s! If your friend can drive I would think 12.7 range.

stick car? I'll bet your buddy pulls a 13.2-13.7 on average

It is capable of low 12's best case scenario.

That means he will run high 12's.

Why do people still make threads like this? Better yet why do so many people these days focus so much on power numbers when they're just part of teh equation? At least use common sense to deduct that a 100% stock GTO can run low 13's. Therefore one with more power can obviously be quicker if the added power can be managed.

What are the results of this GTO?

I don't see why atleast mid 12 would not be possible with the type of rwhp... at least if he can drive. My Camaro weighs more and when I was making 412 at the wheels I did a 12.52 on the stock tires. I had an auto of GTO when they cam out and I ran a 13.41 on a hot day 100% stock. At the time it only had a few hundred miles on it too. With his mods it should easily break in the 12's.

Because unless he's got slicks out back and some suspension mods he's going to hop and skip and peel out all over the track. Can't put the power down very easily with those cars. I had one, I've been there.

I ran a best of 12.6 with my 05 GTO. Kooks headers, CAI, and hurst shifter. Stock tires, and full weight. It was good track prep that night which certainly helped on stock tires, so it's certainly possible for him to hit low 12's, but not what I'd call easy

He should have told them it is an import. It's from Australia.
