close calls with camaro's..

So let me just start off with saying I am by no means an experienced driver when it comes to anything racing/showing off/anything "aggressive" basically. and have rarely done anything more than get on the gas in my camaro the last year that ive had it, today I left work and decided to turn traction control off and see how quickly i could get the car sideways (My work is on a private road that VERY VERY few cars are on) and I quickly had ALLOT more momentum than I expected and found myself in about a 270 spin and within about a foot from being head on with a light pole. I know many of you will pace palm and call me a dumb*&^, by all means I sure am thinking it, but figured id open a thread about sharing our OH %^&$ stories while driving our cars

Thats why they call that holy sh** mode lol. I can easily get mine sideways with all the nannies on.

I beleive that which is the reason I didnt get an SS, I had the intention on buying one than realized, 1 that it just wasnt economically sound for me, and 2 that if I had the power it would be abused lol

I did a burn out with the tc and stabilitrac on.....it was ok..shut it all off ....oh yea..just like the old days, some smoke and the rearend with a little sway, all is good

I had mine sideways at the first stop light leaving the dealer. Not a fun feeling after having only driven the car for the first time about 1 block.

Tell you what, do what i'm gonna do. Find a big empty parking lot, not a narrow street, that isn't being used, pay the owner a little bit to rent it, and go do your burnout and doughnut there. And that's a serious thought. Gonna get some of the guys in my car club to chip in, go out in the county a little and scout a place that maybe is out of business and contact the owner

Had to get to to work in the snow (a good half inch) with some ice on the road as well, all was okay until trying tot turn into the clinic off the street- had to make 3 passes till i could slide it into the entrance.. guess the goodyears arent snow friendly :)

I've been close to hitting a pole too haha that's why you don't do doughnuts in the Taco Bell parking lot hahaha

When I traded in my car I took it to an empty parking lot and did some doughnuts. Came about 10 feet from the curb so I just did a nice long break stand then did a slow 180 while still roasting em then let off the break and left some tracks about 100 feet long. Was fun, first time doing both of those for me in that car. I miss it already and it's only been a week.

I was entering a round about later at night and there was some snow on the roads. I lost control a little and started sliding sideways and there was a poll coming. Luckily I was able to correct it and avoid a costly repair.

Kids........The rear ends of all cars torque alot so that the rear wants to go right, Once I hit a hydroplane from a rut in my 73 chevelle 406... went backwards for over one hundred feet and the 50's saved me in back and kept me from buying new rims from the tire height when i hit the curb going backwards.....I should have powered out of it but just braked....I was doing over 50 mph when it let loose...no posi no nothing......After that I learned not to pass like a maniac in a rain storm with really wide tires.....and look out for ruts alot more, that was scary as i was headed torwards a small bridge. Often problems not going in a straight line are in too much throttle...and the roads are allways graded to make the water run off form the center of the road.........Stabilitrac on can help recover a lost cause but common sense is this happens with damn near all cars...........
