BBK LT's with stock exhaust

Told you guys I'd throw us some vids with the LT's on stock pipes, so here it goes

0-60 http://youtu.be/XYxO4t8SaZo
rev http://youtu.be/W76o72m_8J4
highway noise http://youtu.be/p0M-1xOSdAs
ghost cam and rev http://youtu.be/DyEkLbHzIKY
3rd gear pull http://youtu.be/qnIhKaCeBh8

Sounds pretty good for stock exhaust. Makes me wonder what some DT shorties would sound like on a stock setup.

Sweet....I'm glad we finally have some videos of this up now! Still has a bit of that stock rasp to it, but much lower and throatier than stock!

Will be adding this to the exhaust sticky.

bcperry 12-11-2011 06:33 PM

Yea, I never realized how raspy it is when revving it not under load. I don't notice it when driving.

KMPrenger 12-11-2011 06:45 PM

yeah, these cars definitely sound better under a load....but then again most all cars do.

About time we got a vid of this. Good going man

I wonder what this would sound like with the Magnaflow x-pipe?

stikSS 12-15-2012 04:28 PM

That was pretty quick 0-60. Nice

The headers for my wife's car came today, hopefully I can install tomorrow and now i'm just waiting on IPF tune and tuner to arrive.

What exhaust are you running on your wife's car? Any other mods other than the LT headers you will be installing?

Not sure if you saw the IPF vs Trifecta tune thread, but there was a member there named Korrosion with an intake, headers, and the IPF tune and hes getting over 350 HP at the crank. Should be a good running V6.

Someone have stock exhaust with the magnaflow x pipe?

I wonder if it cleans the noise up.

Probably wouldn't hear anything.

It would "Swwwiissshhhh" like a hard wind!

lol j/k.

I'm sure it would clean it up.

So the bbk long tubes doesn't give you check engine lights and no tune is required? If so, I'm sold!

LTs will almost certainly throw a CEL over time, and a tune is needed to correct that.

That said, we have had guys run LTs without a tune for quite awhile with the CEL on without issue. Car still runs great, its just that the rear 02 sensors are sniffing more emissions, but I don't think the rear 02s will make any adjustments to the A/F ratio. I think that is done via the front 02 sensors.

But a tune is still a good idea of course.

I thought long tubes needed more or less timing? Thats why a tune is needed. Anybody?

I own a 2014 V6 RS with the Dual mode exhaust. I have pulled the fuse so its wide open all the time. I currently have only put in a K&N Typhoon CIA and plan on putting in BBK LT any other small mods I can do with out voiding the lifetime drivetrain warranty?

Unfortunately you won't be able to do that. LT headers only fit the 2010 and 2011 model V6 Camaros with the LLT engine. Your car has the LFX with integrated heads. The next best thing you can do is go with high flow cats.

Ok good to know do you have a certain brand recomendation for those hi flow cats. And any other mods I should look into getting?

You should be stalking the LFX section for this type of information, but I don't mind helping if I can. Unless you go with some custom high flow cats and have them welded up by a shop, there are only two choice that I know of. One is made by SOLO. They consist of high flow cats and resonated pipes to help calm the extra rasp created by dumping the stock cats for high flows. They are also pretty expensive at nearly $700.

The other set is made by ARH, and I think they offer some with and without cats, but no resonated pipe is included so they would be a little louder and more raspy.

The SOLOs are made to not need a tune, but with ARHs you might need a tune to keep from getting a check engine light. The check engine light will come on because the rear 02 sensors are reading more emissions coming through the exhaust, but really its nothing that will harm your car if you don't get a tune.

If you are trying to keep your warranty safe, well then just about any mods are risky business.

But other available mods for your car I can think of besides intake and exhaust would be the Vitesse throttle controller, ported throttle body, manifold spacer made by member JacFab on here, "ported" LFX intake also by JacFab, and a tune. There might be one or two others I'm missing but that's the most of it.
