Conventional is better than synthetic during break in because it will help remove any deposits/debris from the engine. After break in switch, to a full synthetic such as Amsoil.

Seeing that he's brand new from the factory, he's already got synthetic in it now.

OP: If you're going to remain stock, or mostly stock for a little while, just use what GM recommends. In 2010 is was Mobil 1, not sure what they recommend now. As long as you use a good synthetic and use the same weight, you should be good to go. If you start adding a LOT of HP, you may consider switching to a specific brand for various reasons.

Full syn wont allow the rings to seat properly....I would drain and run a good conventional like mikey states, then at 1400 change to a good premium full syn. Not M1 as it is not as good as say Castrol Edge, or up to Amsoil for top grade.

I still stay clear of RP due to past bad experiances, but many have good luck w/it.

Drain the synth and put in conventional. Synth is not good for a brand new engine.
