Any real data

Ok I'm looking to install one of the tuners advertised out there. What I would like to know does any of the guys/gals that have downloaded a hand held...Predator...... do you have any clear evidence other than feel that it improved your performance.
I'm wanting to install one.I have 385 rwhp from a Hennessy CAI and QTP cutouts. Will I get hp/torque Gain with just those 2 mods.
So if anyone has limited mods and a handheld tuner with data please reply.I don't want to waste money again!

With our Powerflash cable we see gains ranging typically in the 15-20 rwhp from tuning. Do you have numbers from when it was stock?

Those are Strong numbers for your mods.

On the Dyno 5-10 HP from where you are now, seat of the pants feels like 25+ because of torque management reduction.

The Predator or Trinity opens the door for custom tuning also, Plus all the other fun features.

If you have any questions give me a call and I will be happy to talk with you.

Ted.

I might be wrong here but doesn't torque management only apply to the automatics? Mine is a manual

NOPE, your limited to 280 lb torque till after 3000 RPM in all gears.

question

Ted I thought the Diablo tinity could not limit the tourqe managemnt?

06MonteSS 12-04-2009 10:41 AM

it disables the torque management on the engine side of the tune...

there is no TCM support yet, so it can not access the tranny parameters yet...

In laymans term, what does this mean?

aj2ssrs 12-04-2009 11:43 AM

Ted, you're saying that the stock tune limits the torque to 280 lbs at and below 3000 rpm. Without any other mods other than the trinity canned tune, which disables tm, how much extra torque is gained at 3000 rpm on the manual trans as opposed to the stock tune?

it means that torque management from the engine is disabled...

but not in the tranny... since there is no tcm support yet, it can not communicate with the transmission controller, so there is still some torque management being applied within the transmission.

once the TCM support is completed, then you will be able to access the transmission settings and would be able to disable/reduce the transmission's torque management as well.

As much as is availible based on Mods.

In other words, if the engine can produce 350 ft. lb. at 3000 then 70 more will be available with torque management turned off.

I understand what you are saying that with mods and a stock tune, you are limited to 280 lbs torque. What I'm asking is by turning off torque management on a totally stock ls3 freeing up any torque that tm is limiting. For example if a stock ls3 is making 290 lbs torque but tm is limiting it to 280, just tuning out tm frees up 10 lbs torque. (Just pulling numbers out of the air for an example) Thanks for the info. I've been wrenching cars for 34 years, mostly when I was younger, but this is all new to me. Didn't have to worry about computer controlled cars back then.

So, that explains why I can really feel the car take off like a bullet once it hits over 3000 rpm, but it seems rather anemic under 3k. Even with mods like CAI, shorty headers and cat backs the low end still kind of sucks, but I really feel the difference after 3k!
