TVS vs centri

say that 2 identically set up cars (bolt ons, one with a roots style and one with a centrifugal SC) were to race from 0 to say 140... which car would be ahead of the other at what point in the race?

Roots early and centri later

Depends on which centri:)

Seriously though, there are so many variables to consider it would be hard to give a definitive answer

Too vague. Which would win a race, a red car or a black car?

Whipple making 750rwhp would kill a 500rwhp p1sc car. 800rwhp Novi1500 car will kill a 500rwhp TVS2300 car.

Now equal power, depends on gearing, tuning, traction, etc.

If your talking, take 2 new cars just add the same simple bolt-ons. Then add a stock pullyed TVS 5-5.5 boost a stock pullyed V3 5-5.5 boost

IF you could get the TVS hook up it would most likely get to 60 first but the centrifugal would be going at a higher speed. If both where running the stock 5-5.5 boost I have little doubt the centrifugal would be ahead by 80 and pulling away by 100.
That's my 2c. As the only TVS i have been in a E-Force with stock pulleys and it took off fast but seem to just lvl out on power.

This should be fun. Lots of variables but I prefer centri for future flexibility.

Well thats why i said identical...go ahead and give both DR, same boost, auto and a pretty entry level centri. Obviously not trying to compare a ysi V7 to the LSA's 1900 blower or a kenne belle 4.0l to a V3.

The "little V3" (which the V3 has nothing to do with the size, you can get a V3 Si trim or a V3 YSI) makes more boost than a stock cammed L99 with headers can handle. I'm at 12 psi at 6200 Rpms and still using a restrictor and it isn't over spinning.

Nice centri setup with headers and bolt ons will be much easier to hook, especially on the street, than an equally set up PD blower car.

I was torn between ECS and Whipple. Went ECS and glad I did but I'm sure I'd be happy with a Whipple too. I like my setups to be easy to hook so I went centri.

I see, well the reason i ask if bc im l99, bolt ons with a blower cam and ls3 conv and im leaning heavily towards the vortech v3 but before i pull the trigger i was wondering if a roots style blower would fit me better (mostly roll racing, 50-60 and up) not too much drag racing. Most likely centrifugal then right?

Still really depends, I was playing with a D1sc camaro with similiar mods that I have and from a roll I pulled him pretty good. We didn't run but to about a 100mph but he never caught me, mine is a stick and he was auto. He may have run me down if we stayed in them but we didnt. I'm not saying which is better because they are both awesome just sharing my story. If we did it again it may go different, and this was with my Maggie before I switched to whipple.

A 800 hp tvs will outrun a 800hp centri everytime every where IMO and experience

Sounds like a challenge. Want to find out in a few weeks? You know where to find me. LOL

For the quarter mile, it's all about torque and the race is usually won in the first 60 in similarly powered cars. If we are talking mile runs, that centri will have the advantage. I'd put my money on the TVS for all around quickness under 800 wheel or so.
