:mad0260: I'm not going to have my 1LE until June, I would love to do this. Well I can start planning for the following year.

Edit: Holy Crap! :confused0068: I just read the rules for this and I realise that there are lots of safety standards, but I'm going to have to turn my car into a verifiable race car if I were to decide to participate in this. Probably need at least a 10k investment to get everything up to their specifications. So looks like I'm out. :(

No, all you need to do if you want to run the Grand touring (max 140mph) class is have a 5 or 6pt harness. You need a harness bar to support the belt.I found a total bolt in harness bar,http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/its the bomb,im selling mine only used once. The whole set up was only $1000.00,but then you do need the appropiate helmet, i think mine was like $300.00.Now to run the Grand sport class (max 165mph)i have to have a half roll cage put in and that will be about $900.00

Also, if you want to run the touring class(max 124mph)you dont have to do anything except a helmet, still pretty cool to run that speed for 90 miles.

What about the rules for the fuel cell for the Grand Touring? Does the stock tank qualify?

cornerspeed92 11-16-2012 07:33 PM

The fuel cell is only for the super sport thats 165 plus.In may i am running grand sport, and all i am doing to my 1LE, is the half cage roll bar.I will be running the 150 mph class with a "tech"speed of 165 which means i cant exceed 165,but none of that fuel cell collapsing steering wheel is in effect till the super sport class. I cant remember if the rules say anything about a fuel cell for the grand sport, but if it does its only a recommendation, not a rule, yes our stock tank is just fine.If you want to see something super cool,go to the site,go to the bottom, click on videos, and Jim Puerto(not sure of the spelling)from May 2012 250+ run through the finish line, simply amazing.
