I completely disagree with your perspective.
Does GM make the tremec Transmission? No. Does Tremec make the output shaft that is failing? No.
What is GM currently doing FOR CUSTOMERS that are breaking the OS? They are installing an upgraded transmission from a much higher line car. ( 30k more) And the turn around time from tow in to drive out is currently 3 day's. I would say GM is above and beyond taking care of the customer.
And no more will be hitting the streets with this problem. Problem promptly addressed and rectified.
As for your little whine on lug nuts and piller trim, This is a first year line car. As an engineer you should know exactly what that means therefore I wont waste my time elaborating on that. I'll just say half of your post should not exist based on that one line.
There is no longer a problem with door piller trim. It was a short term problem. All these petty little whines are nothing in the infancy of this scheme. And corrected in a timely fashion.
Last, the human factor. I don't give a shit what line you compare, if you match production numbers you are going to find the same amount of errors give or take 1% factor. It's a fact of life. Unless your talking about comparing made by Ferrari or Leer.
Lighten up,take a day off to do something to unload how ever much stress your carrying. Deep breathing, and in the end every little thing will be what it is. Little. And the good will far out weigh the bad.

I'm confused here.. Where did you get your info from that GM is currently replacing broken ones with this problem with "an upgraded transmission from a much higher line car"??????? Please explain in detail what higher line transmission is the current one being replaced with because you're the first one I've heard mention this....

Ltdodge 07-14-2009 04:51 PM

I wonder if this batch of transmissions was due to the cinco de mayo celebration and the Mexican workers partying too much.....

the vin number range seems like its cars built in may and june......:)

What's been the lowest VIN# with a confirmed issue so far?

I think he's referring to the transmission in general. The 6060 is the same unit in the Viper, Corvette, some Mustangs, etc. It's a Hi-po transmission.

Since we're trying to take our minds off this issue, I'll add this to the pile!

I have the same problem in my car still not sure what it is. The Vibration is not always there but first gear is a little rough. I'm trying to find out what the problem is.

My guess, totally a guess, is that they already know roughly how many cars are affected and have decided that it's a small enough number to warrant QC instead of full blown production halt. Keep in mind we do know that not all V8 M6 cars will have the problem. So it's reasonable to get good cars to buyers instead of making everyone wait.

Again this is my opinion. Nothing more.

Your guess is closer to fact than you may think.

Hahahaha That was funny...

Actually a lot of people don't know that most Mexicans don't even celebrate Cinco de mayo. It's only celebrated in one tiny part in Mexico...It's actually a bigger holiday/excuse to get drunk in the U.S. than it is in Mexico hahaha
Their big celebration is September 16th so that's actually the week that we would need to watch out hahaha jk

Whatever the issue is I really do hope it was only one batch as my order is an SS manual and I am very troubled by this news...I guess it's good like some people have been saying that GM is at least doing something about it instead of ignoring it and voiding people's warranties later. Of course, nowadays with big-brother oversight they kind of have to lol

Wow, that make me dizzy just looking at it

Kenny 07-14-2009 06:24 PM

It's pretty clear what needs to be done now. ALL m6 SSs held in QC (mine included) need immediate testing of the output shaft. Acording to my calculations testing the launch control 2....maybe 3 times should weed out the bad apples.

On my way to the plant right now to help out.....yeah that's right.....just doin my part.
