Another Muffler Delete Question

I went to have it done yesterday (L99), the guy told me it might throw a code due to the reduced backpressure. Has anyone gotten a "Check Engine" light from a muffler delete?

And my powertrain warranty should remain in effect, right?

Thanks,

Not that I'm aware of. The stock mufflers have such low back pressure already, IMO, the muffler delete does nothing but affect the sound. I have had the muffler delete for almost one year without any problems.

no code or nothing from me

just the loss of mpg from reving it all the time
and winding it out to high rpms to hear the awsomeness

Sorry, but I've got to raise the flag...http://www.dfwstangs.net/forums/imag...ies/bsflag.gif
That statement is so totally false.

No codes. Get a new shop...
With headers, HF cats and muffler delete, it will be loud, very loud. Be prepared!

I have the resonators on and have no drone at all and think it sounds great. Do you think it will sound bad?

It's going to be loud!

It's all in someone's preference though. There are a few around here that love the muffler delete with headers. WAY to loud for me but might be ok for you.

Just be prepared to make some kind of change if you have to. Maybe you'll get lucky and can handle the increased sound.

thanks

So what is the muffler delete? Are you just removing the mufflers and installing a straight pipe?

Bill

I had the mufflers removed and installed larger tips to straight pipes from the resonators. The sound is really good but I am worrying that after the LT headers and X pipe are put in it maybe to loud.

YES! And it sounds FRIKIN AWESOME! :headbang::headbang: Sorry, i get a little excited thinking about it. It's cheap also, mine cost $100.59. Just the other day I was in an empty pole barn... HOLY CRAP did that sound BA. :chevy:

I have an LS3 with Muffler delete and a Volant CAI. The sound it great with no drone. I've never had a problem or thrown any codes from either. The stock setup was just too quiet!
