i'm wanting to add arh long tube, cold air intake, and some sort of axle back. I called my local gm performance shop and they quoted me $600:confused0068:to dyno tune this seemed very high to me, just wanted to see what other shops has charged and what you guys have paid to have this done.

$600 is about right though you could get cheaper but not by much. Just the tune alone with out any dyno testing will run you $400-$500 for a good tune and most shops I've seen charge another $100 per hour on the dyno.

$450 for a dyno tune using hp tuners.

$400 is common for a tune with a dyno. Some shops are just cheap and charge for the tune then add dyno time on top of that. Forget about those shops. Typically when you go back to get a re-tune for upgrades the shops just charge dyno time of about $100 an hour and it really shouldnt take more than a few hours to dial in your upgrades, as longs as they are not crazy or a new cam.

We charge $350 for stock/bolt on cars for a full dyno tune and up to $550 for built cars. We also charge half price for retunes. Which is something to watch for. Some shops are willing to do retunes for free, some charge full price again if the car is radically different.

What would be a better tune performance-wise, a dyno-tune or a custom tune from some place like Vector motorsports?

We charge our clients a package price for those parts 400 including all dyno time and or street validation. I however do not think that is outrageous, they more then likely have to purchase credits (100 dollars) to authorize each vin, and then charge 500 for tuning an dyno time. We however do not purchase credits any more and this helps our clients make there purchases and money spent with us much more economical.

Dyno tune, mail order tunes are average at best. This is obvious as well due to safety concerns, and a multitude of variables that have to be taken into account.

In short find a local shop to dyno tune and you will be much better off.

Cost me $425 dyno and tune

mike@newera 11-11-2009 07:32 PM

We charge $400 for 2010 camaro LS3, and $450 for 2010 camaro L99 (because of the TCM tuning that needs to be done with the Automatic Trans).

Matt TuneTime 11-13-2009 08:39 AM

We charge $400 ... Then $125 per hr dyno time for retunes ... Street time is free ... On stock cars / bolt-ons ... Cam/heads/FI is more based on what you have
