Ikon Bumper nightmare

Ikon bumper issues, We were able to make it fit pretty good. Not as well as factory but nothing does. The biggest problem was to bumper was delivered with two "dimples" one on each side that was obviously a factory defect. Ikon initially offered to give me a partial refund but after that email we never heard from them again. All there numbers are fake including the number they have online. Ebay and PayPal tried contacting them but received no response. I would not purchase anything from a company like this again.
They did finally offer a refund but did not agree to pay the $400.00 shipping charge.
If you have these same issues (check out the Ebay reviews) contact your banks fraud department. They will refund your money.

Paypal should have refunded the whole amount, to include the shipping if they didn't respond. I've had this happen before unfortunately, and paypal refunded everything immediately after a couple of days without response from them.

And ebay has a money back guarantee too. Or does that not apply to auto parts?

I hate shilling for eBay and Paypoo, but eBay does have a decent MBG.

The dimples your talking about were they on the top of the bumper ?

Sheriff37 05-12-2018 01:41 PM

Which bumper are you talking about? Do you have any pictures?
Very sorry to hear about your situation

Mike Williams 05-13-2018 03:14 PM

No the dimples were on the sides in front of marker lights.
I also had the bumps at top originally but my body shop removed bumper again and had to do some modification to make those go away.
Ebay and PayPal can only do so much if company ignores them.
This bumper has just been one issue after another with a company that could care less what people think about them or their product.

Ikon did respond and offered refund if I sent the bumper back. They didn't offer to pay for shipping and as such PayPal hands were tied.

if you open a case with eBay requesting a refund and choose "item not as described". You do not have to pay for return shipping.

Yeah as long as the seller responds to the paypal claim and approves return its up to the buyer to get it shipped back which sux.. ebay on the other hand if you do a item not as described claim the seller cannot force you to pay return shipping and if you do and you pay for shipping through ebay the seller will have to return that cost once the item arrives back to them.

was this the zl1 bumper?

Dustya 05-14-2018 07:39 AM

I think alot of peoples expectations of a $700-800 dollar full front assembly is a bit high to be honest.. if there is points that are not correctable that is understandable.. But for the price you are getting front splitter all grills bumper etc... People pay $400 just for a splitter and $400 or more for sema grills....

There were imperfections in mine including some mold lines some gouges a few small dimples we just spent time sanding filling imperfections and prepping it... None of these FRP parts are meant to purchase and slap on there is going to be some sort of prep with any of them.

Hi Dustya,
Thanks for the info, can you share a rough idea of how much extra cost (approx) to expect in sanding prepping and dimples all that you described?
Thanks

Honestly it will vary by shop. And time put in. If you are taking it to be painted the paint shop will include it in your quote.. from my experience a good prep and paint on a bumper of this size would probably be 4-500 for quality.. you can always go to budget paint shop and get a 2-300 dollar job tho.. I've learned alot with this car and one thing is the aftermarket doesn't care they just want thier money.. especially cosmetics.. this front bumper was a godsend compared to what the duraflex stuff I got looked like and threw away. Don't be scared to learn yourself either.

I too received a ZL1 bumper from them with at least one dimple in it. Packaging wasn't great either. I'm going to have the shop make sure it's perfect beforehand anyways so it's fine with me. Fitment wasn't perfect but again I just tinkered with it to get it to fit properly.
