Not true. These CTF cars can be sold. They will be assigned a VIN, and be retrofitted for consumer use. Then, sold at auction as used cars.

It's the IVERS that get crushed because there is no way they can be retrofitted with all the monitoring and diagnostic equipment on board.

Thanks for the great info on this amazing car! Sorry for your loss. I know I would be devistated if I had to give my car up for more than a few hours (my wife likes to steal it to get to work).

TO NUMBER 3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott,

If it has to be then I reckon it has to be! Dog-gone-it though!
I truly understand your sadness too!

I like many others here at Camaro5 have become VERY attached to my new SS. :D(I knew I would). Amazing how much though! I could list a lot of reasons for it too! Like my new building being built just to house this beautiful ride. (another $12,000). What is this, a fever or something? :iono:And, how long will it last? :iono:Must be a sickness or something and lot of us have it!:barf:

You have been (and still are) a wonderful icon for the GM community and I know you know how I feel about you and Lisa! But, I'd like to reiterate my feelings here and say Thanks again for your motavational support in which you were in part responsible for!

Although, I never rode or drove your CTF's, I thank you for your dedication to GM :chevy:and bringing #1's Yellow (THOR) to Florida and allowing me the pleasure of riding in HIM and touching HIM. It gave me patience's (as most of us needed desperatly at the time of the big WAIT) and a stronger desire for my Camaro. As you already know, I ordered on 12-8-08, and my baby arrived on 6-2-09 in which I took ownership and drove home on 6-9-09. As many of us waited...and waited for what seem like forever (but was only a few weeks) you were there with the moral support saying hang in there, just hang on.;)

I'm sad to see your CTF have to go back. It has been a part of your and Lisa's life for a while now. Who knows what the future is bringing you, but, whatever it is,.......I'm sure we haven't heared the last of #3!

QUOTE... That depends. The new program GM just implemented rotates the assigned cars to even more drivers to get more miles for the quality evaluation. It could be back in service for up to another 4 months with another assigned driver. But under the old plan, the car would be cleaned up and sent to auction. In some cases, employees could be given the opportunity to purchase the car. We'll have to see what happens.

Again, THANK YOU!:respekt:

I have drooled over the concept. Read the manual in pdf form cover to cover. The wait for my car is painful. But I can not imagine the feeling of having driven one for so long and having to give it up. I am sad for you. Thank you for your contributions to this site. I love GM and the people that work for them. It's people like you that make the difference. :chevy:

Very touching Nmbr3, I almost had to part from my car because financing was giving me issues. But, with blessing from god and prayers from all of you guys and my family I got everything done and out of the way.

josh1147 08-29-2009 10:23 AM

Jim,

Thanks so very much on your first trip for stopping here in St. Louis on that cold winter morning so a small group of us could drool, poke, touch, and feel your beautiful, red camaro. Your trips and stories have allowed many of us to "go along" for the ride while we were waiting on our very own....sometimes stuck in QC for a long time!

Now that I have had mine for almost 8 weeks, I can't say enough....not perfect for everyone and yes there are things I'd "like" to change....but I won't. This is indeed one of if not the best sportcars that GM has come out with.

I know it's 'just a car' as some have said....but it is more to me (and others here) and I love mine....as my 5yr old refers to it..."the roller coaster car".....it's the memories, the time spent together.....and the restoration of a truly American icon!!

Best of luck, hope you continue to hang around!!

WAY TO GO GM...old and new...keep up the excellent work!

Josh

Number 3

I am sorry to hear your loss I know it says I am a new member but I have been reading the threads here for well over a year. Your insight has helped many members and even non members with there Camaro or the decision to really buy one. Enjoy your weekend with your good friend hopefully you will get your own and when you say the car is you even though its not the best believe me I understand I feel the same way about my boat of an SS (just wish they would make it rwd again cars showing its age). But in all respect I have to say because of you you kept my spirits and others about gm quality high (lost my faith for a while bought a ford) and that is a lot to thank you for.

I have only seen 296 in pictures but I am going to miss it dearly. I learned more real info about the SS Camaro from 296 and Mr. & Mrs. #3 than any other source.
