We sell parts so this should carry a lot of weight with you. Lowering coils look good and improve some aspects of vehicle dynamics, but they are NOT a must. There is a link in my signature to The Book on 5th Gen Suspension. I suggest you read through it. Welcome to Camaro5. You are going to enjoy your new Camaro.

I'm looking into dropping my car does anyone have the alignment specs after a 1inch drop is installed from either eibach or bmr kit?

Eibach is a 1" drop so any spring that will lower you to that will get you the same look. BMR sells a 1" spring as well. Pfadt is very popular but is a 1.25" drop and you have to cut the bumpstops. I had Hotchkis 1" until I got my coilovers.

As far as the dealer...even if they will do the install you'll be paying extra because it is a dealership. Same will go with the alignment you'll need afterwards....the dealership will charge more than going else where.

Something else you'll want to make sure to do is to have the bushings "timed" after lowering the car. Do a search.....plenty of info out there about how to have them do that. Don't assume whoever installs your springs or aligns your car will automatically time the bushings either. It's more work so you'll have to pay for it.

How did you like your Hotchkis springs? What made you decide to opt for the coilovers?

If you follow this link to our Instructions page, it has our BMR recommended alignment specs as well as detailed instructions on re-indexing the bushings during the alignment.

Tantalizer - Thanks! Don't forget that we’re still running a pretty major sale through the end of the month (a few days left) if you want to get the best deal.

Just curious how much are you guys paying for the install?

It will vary by geography as shop rates are heavily influenced by real estate and property taxes. It will also vary by quality of work. A tech familiar with the Camaro can have the front and rear coils swapped in a couple of hours. That is the easy part. Timing the bushes and getting the alignment dead nuts on are the next part of the job.

For perspective, GM says the front struts take three hours. Most shops will do the coil swap, bush timing and alignment in 4.5 hours. Can it be done faster. Sure. I can do a green light alignment within factory specs in 30 minutes. If I do a tight spec alignment it will take me an hour to 90 minutes. It all depends on what your expectations are for a quality coil installation.

Step 1. Pull the car up on to a drive uplift.

Step 2. Loosen the following bolts/nuts:
Front:
---Inner Control Arm Bushing
---Inner Radius Rod
Rear:
---Trailing Arm Bushings (both ends)
---Toe Rod Bushings (both ends)
---Lower Control Arm Bushings (Inner)
---Upper Control Arm Bushings (Rearward)
---Lower Strut Bushings

Step 3.
Grab the subframes or sway bars, and jounce the car up and down a few times.

Step 4.
Tighten all of the nuts/bolts to spec.

Step 5.
Align the car at the new ride height.
