Ford F-150 Tremor: Ok GM. Next move is yours.

Like most quakes, the 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor caught us by surprise. We weren't expecting Ford to offer up another version of its best-seller so soon before the truck's full redesign, but that's exactly what the company is doing.

While Ford calls the Tremor a "performance truck," the new pickup doesn't play on the same level as the SVT Raptor does on dirt, or even the long-gone SVT Lightning did on pavement. Think of it as a parts bin sport truck that probably does a better job looking the part than acting it. The Tremor utilizes the same twin-turbo, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 available across the F-150 lineup, producing 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, but matches it with a 4.10 rear axle – the shortest final drive ratio you can get in an F-150 – for the strongest possible acceleration.

The Tremor does do a decent job looking the part. Available only in short-wheelbase, regular cab configuration with your choice of two- or four-wheel drive, it struts around wearing the F-150's FX Appearance Package, flat black accents, 20-inch black wheels, HID headlights and a special exterior graphics package. The Tremor is the only regular cab F-150 with a flow-through center console, which means it also gets a floor-mounted shifter and bucket seats that are covered in black leather with red piping. Some brushed metal accents and steering wheel with red stitching round out the interior upgrades.

I agree Gm better have something in the pipeline to compete with this and the Ram R/t. I dunno how many times ive said it on the forum that GM needs to come out with the 6.2 in a reg cab short box but NOOOOO do they listen now they will be again following and being a step behind the competition. I Love GM but damn they frustrate me.

Ready for the Ram Express/R/T comparison tests :). My only worry is price, seems like the estimates put it around the mid 30s. I have always wanted the Ecoboost in a RC/SWB truck, but can i have a low option XL please :) Agree we need a 6.2 RC Chevy and rumors are starting to float around about the Ram R/T getting a version of the 6.4 Hemi, this could get good.

Ewwww XL version is ugly with that plastic crappy grill and steel wheels The tremor does look decent for a Ford truck but Ram is still the best looking then its the GMC Seirra 14 Model year.

i like sleepers and it should be a bit lighter than the Tremor with all it's requisite options :) Honestly, i do wish they would have worked with the suspension on the Tremor at least. I do like it though.

I was looking the pic again and if one were to say lower the tremor a few inches if it was 2wd no point in lowering a 4wd IMO it would look a bit better. Its a truck so its still kind of a sleeper anyways tune it and tweak it and I bet it would surprise a lot of people.

Whenever Chevy releases the Colorado, they should include an Xtreme version (like the old S-10's) to be a Tremor killer ;)

true, lower the 2WD, give it some bigger ati-sway bars, nice. That was a great thing about trucks like the Lightnings and even the Dakpta R/Ts from that time period they were good handling and even entertaining when the road got twisty.

I am planning on ordering a 2014 rcsb Silverado with the 5.3. Should be a nice truck.

I agree we need the SS line back like the trailblazer and Silverado ss

GM doesn't need to answer to this. If people want a GM performance vehicle they have plenty to choose from already:

CTS-V
CTS-V Coupe
ATS
Camaro SS
Camaro 1LE
Camaro ZL1
Camaro Z/28 (soon)
Corvette Z06
Corvette ZR1
Corvette Stingray (soon)
Chevrolet SS sedan

GM builds trucks for what they're supposed to be used for. And we all know GM can do it if they wanted to. Remember the Cyclone or the Typhoon?

GM has so many toys in their toy chest Ford HAS to do stuff like this. What else do they have? The Mustang. That's it.

You can buy a regular cab long bed xl from Ford with the eco boost for around 24k. I'm not sure this is worth the extra 12k.

:word: And it would be a better truck than the Tremor without a pricey appearance package. That would be awesome if they put the 6.2 in a RCSB though. We can't expect them to come out with everything the first year. I wouldn't rule it out down the road.
