Best three modifications about $500 each?

Hi guys,
I have a 2010 SS. I searched and and I think Im ready to start the modification. The air intake seems to be the first mod and I want to do all the work/install myself, but what are the best modifications and brand names about $500 each. Since

1) What brand of air intake and I want to keep my washer bottle in place. I read the air intake thread, but the runs didn't seem consistent or were on different test cars so I discounted the information.

2) throttle body and manifold.

3) What type of headers. I see stainless steel power (SSP) and stainless steel work. What's the difference? If the SSP rust out in two years, I don't want them, but they are priced cheap, but why?

I guess im asking you to list what three performance modifications you bought in or under the $500 range.

Here we go again.

Search! All info is on this same page. Just skroll down

Or just buy the tsp headers. They're the best :) great price, thicker material, magma flow cats, off road pipes look like cats, polished stainless, available in 1 7/8" or 2", etc...

FYI TSP is a sponsor that pays the bills around here, a search will show no problems with them and customer service is top notch for ~450 dollars!

Headers, cai, tune! That's knocking on 50 rwhp gains with those 3 mods. An underdrive pulley is worth about another 7 or 8 rwhp.

If it was my car, I'd do the 1 7/8" TSP headers, ADM race intake with scoop, and get a tune. Not a handheld tune either... a tune using a wideband.

Stainless Works and Stainless Power are the same company and their headers are almost identical, the biggest difference is the Stainless Power headers are assembled over sea's and only come with a 2 year warranty vs a lifetime warranty. They are very nice headers, with great quality and fit.

As for the intake system, I'd recommend CAI, Roto-Fab or Airaid. All are great systems.

Once you do the headers, you will want a tune to follow as you will have a CEL for cat deficiency codes. These can be tuned out and you will also gain a bit more by dialing in the tune.

Please feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions. We also offer package deals to save ya some cash! :thumb:

I have the TSP 1 7/8 LT and put them on myself. Easy to install and great fit. No clearance issues what so ever. I also installed the ADM CAI with race scoop. Both are very well built and I don't have any complaints about either. You mix those with a Rhino79 tune and you will be more than happy with your car.

Im looking for the brand names recommended with prices to make my budget work.

What's a better header. TSP or stainless power headers?

I read kooks are great and wont throw a code for the cats, but they are out of my budget

Muddflap 07-01-2013 02:21 PM

I personally like my TSP headers. At the end of the day in most cases headers are headers. I have no clearance issues with them all. If they made headers for my Nissan Titan I would buy TSP headers for it as well.

If you go this route your going to need a tune to do it the right way.

You'll have plenty of money left over after a cold air intake, lt headers and a tune.
