So I was viewing the onstar website and I found out about the new app that they are releasing for the 2011 models with onstar. You can check car diagnostics, lock/unlock your car and even start the car with this app. Personally I think this will be the sickest app of all when it comes and cant wait to use it my 2011 Camaro.

You realize you just re-opened a very painful scab? Lets just say us 2010 folks are feeling a little left out over this app. I'm sure I won't be the only one to voice their disgust over it.

Not til the end of the month it looks like. I figured since they have been showing commercials previously and sent out the email today it would be released. Oh well =( That is what I get for not reading the fine print.

they say it's because of a hardware issue. the 2011's have an upgraded chip..or something.

the 2010's not getting it is a bonus in my book, you know that these smart phones are just as vulnerable to trojans and the like as a actual computer if not more b/c they don't run anti virus? how would you feel if your car was stolen b/c your phone was hacked? then your on star was disabled b/c they got physical access to the computer?

though i guess convience is mother to nessesity.

I would still be interested in the possible update for my 2010 so the option is there, but it'll be way to expensive to actually do it I'm betting since you'll probably have to rip the dash all the way out.

The commercial I watched said fall 2010. So we will see. I don't see myself using it too much. I barely use any apps on my iphone except facebook lol

yea i would use it once in a while...the one thing im really looking for is the remote start because i was going to get it installed but if this comes then it would save me a lot of money...

I doubt they're going to force you to install it on your smartphone. So that argument is pretty weak.
