I drove mine pretty gingerly til 500 to 600 miles then let loose on it like I stole it. That's what other's I worked with did and it turns out pretty damn well. Just make sure to change the oil after around 1500 miles no matter what you do.

I knew some one was going to eat that up once a seen what i wrote! What about the real brake in any ideas!

I got my foot into it during break in but kept it under 4500 rpm for the first 500 miles. Also engine braked a few times per drive. Seated the rings well, hardly any oil in my catch can, just condensate for the most part.

I dumped the synthetic, put in Pennzoil, drove it like I stole it for 500 miles, put Mobil 1 in it, and all is good. The synthetics are slick and won't allow the rings to seat the cross hatch cylinders.

I heard pamper for 500 change oil and rip it. I also heard 1000 miles change oil a run it like you stole it. The last one said run for 500 miles change oil run for 2500 miles change oil and run hard. None of this really makes sense to me! I run many 60's gm hot cars and it was a typical deal brake in easy for 500 miles check oil for any signs of metal. If good start getting some heat cycles in and run it hard!

I would say just drive it normally for about 600-1000 miles before any hard driving. I don't think any early oil change is really necessary. Most important thing is not to overheat the engine.
