4.11's

So I've decided to order gears for my 2010 ss, and wanted to go with the L.P.E.'s but they don't make 4.10's or 4.11's.... So reading the forum it appears that the newer 4.11 richmond's are good, can anyone recommend where to order from and possibly the cheapest ,reputiable place to order from?

carry a bucket to pick up the pieces. Go with the LPE 3.91 from Janetty. You'll be very happy with the 3.91 as there isnt much difference between 391 and 411 gears. Can I ask, what other mods do you have?

The 4.11s are NOT immune to this:

These were mine and lasted 1000 miles.

BTW... I grew up in Youngstown!

Sure, c.a.i., 231/236 cam, custom tune, 460rwhp. and that was another question I had I been reading alot about this but no one seems to really answer.... what is the seat of the pants difference between a 3.91 and a 4.11????

It wont make much a difference. Especially with what you have already. 4.11 omay actually be too much for the power you have. First would be pretty much useless and you'd be fighting traction all the time.

Wait... you A6 or M6? I always assume manual...

After seeing your mod list... stick with the 3.91 LPEs for sure from Ted.

I had the 4.10s with a bone stock are and it was fun but as I have incresed power, I am going with the 3.91 next. I am currently back with the 3.45s after the failure of the 4.10s.

Also, quick question... I basically drive around town and hit the strip 2 or 3 times a year and store it in the winter. Car has 8000 miles on it vin #293, anyway with only 460 to the rear wheels would you recommend the l.p.e rear diff cover with the gear change? And also the bushing, etc change for another $200 plus?

great thanks for the advice and i'm manual 6

Bushings for sure, the cover... meh, I dont know. Never looked into it. i do not know of one Camaro that blew out the rear cover. Lots of gear failures but nothing with the cover... I'll be frank, I didnt even know they made an upgraded cover.

No sweat...

Where you live in A-town?

My parents live off Mahoning Ave. My dad has a 2007 supercharged Mustang GT and my mom has a black Saturn Sky RedLine. I get to toy around with them when I go visit.

You ever go to any local events? Super Nats or anything?

rick john 02-11-2012 03:04 PM

I live off of mahoning myself! And yea me and some neighbors hit the super nats every year

I'd like 4.10's too but I'm not gonna risk my hard earned cash. 3.91's for me. ;)

rick john 02-12-2012 08:31 AM

Yea, the more I check into this I have to go with the 3.91's. My main concern was the fact with the cam I wanted a decent gear to get me outta the hole easier. Cause the stock just ain't cutting it! The money ain't the big issue it's just that I want a noticeable difference that's all.

the higher the number, the harder it should launch. however, it will hurt you on the big end. a high number on the gear is basically a bandaid for not having enough power to get out of the hole with the quickness. granted, like the other guy said, there's not a HUGE difference btw 3.91 and 4.11, but i personally dont like either one. thats why i stuck m 3.46's back in when i beefed up my diff in the gto.

dont forget, your mileage will suffer with the bigger number on the gear too. i like my 26-27 mpg on the highway ;)

rick john 02-12-2012 09:11 AM

Gottcha, C! The only difference was when me and my buddy put the cam in there was a big difference in the take off with the clutch, which I did fully expect....All I want is that takeoff/ launch back and I hope these 3.91's will get me that back and then some.

collins 02-12-2012 09:31 AM

if thats what you're striving for, i'd say that should suit you just fine.
