how do OEMs measure vehicle weight and weight balance?
 

Simple question but its on my mind im trying to figure out if Chevy and in this case of the Camaro measures vehicles dry or with all the fluids? I read in the past that vehicles are weighted with fluids which sounds good, but I no one ever brought up the subject of how much fuel is in the tank when the vehicles are weighted since that is a big portion itself.

Im asking because I need to keep my fuel tank at a minimum of half full and fill it up before it drops below half to keep my Aeromotive Eliminator pump happy, and if that's the case I will feel more comfortable taking some weight off the back of the car, which im trying not to do to avoid messing up the vehicles weight balance?

I always through they were dry weights. Dirt bikes, atv, etc all state dry weights. I figured cars would be the same.

Can't you just weigh your car?

By definition "curb" weight includes all operating fluids including a full tank of gas so you are correct.

thanks a lot man! Manufacturers that measure dry weight usually and I say "usually" make it clear that the weights are dry.

This however clears up the fuel level issue, I guess ill take some weight off the back and keep the tank full, lets hope my car doesn't end up feeling like a truck?
