Long Tubes

Are long tube headers worth the money and hassle if I already have high flow cats. Seems that most of the power gain comes from the cats.

Do the other bolt-ons first, long tubes last. I think you'll be happy at the money you save.

At this point in my build, with my JBA shorties and high flow cats, I may gain only 10rwhp if I switch to $1700 Longtubes.

What are your other mods?

It depends on what you mean by worth the money. Stock powerwise, not really since you already have the high flow cats. Long tubes will become more worth it if you mod more.

They sound awesome.

Going from JBA high flows to LT's with no cats or tune was an impressive difference. I mean night and day.

My mods are just all your basic bolt one. CIA ported throttle body the cats and a catback I am seriously considering a nitrous kit and will probably add that before spring time.

I am getting LT's because i want to get a super charger in the future. :headbang:

I have some for sale if your interested

Black1SS 01-19-2012 09:50 AM

what do you have and how much?

The real decision you have to make is if you're ready to void your warranty. So far, you could go back to stock no problem but if you add long-tube headers, you will more than likely want to get the car tuned to make full advantage of them and make the check engine light go away (it will throw codes).

So you may want to factor in the price of a tune to go along with those headers if you decide to go that route.

IMHO improving airflow through the engine via CAI, ported TB, headers, high-flow cats, axle back and a custom tune is a pretty good bang for your buck.

Headers are a must on these engines for the power potential

HulkSS 01-19-2012 10:53 AM

Sorry guys I forgot its already tuned so the warranty is gone anyway. Just wondering if I will notice anything with the headers considering they aren't very cheap.

what about the tb spacer? does it really work? gain any hp?

Bad70supreme 01-19-2012 11:32 AM

Most of the power is not from the cats  Headers are the only way to go, unless your state wont let you! You gain more power across the hole rev range and the more mods the more you need them. FYI not all headers are a grand, my XS powers were 350$ and are just as good as the big money headers.
