Awards presented by the Mod's and GM

Is there going to be a list of what cars won what awards as presented by the Mod's and GM? Curious to see who our peers chose.

I'd like to see that too.

The choice of the yellow 5th gen as best 5th gen has been....shall we say....controversial.

Why so? I thought he had a clever display, and did an overall great job of presenting his car. Am I missing something? You are talking about the yellow 5th gen 1/2 on the ramps with the mirrors under it correct?

That said. If you can show me any car show in the world where everyone agreed on the top cars. I will eat my hat.

They are all controversial in someones eyes.

Agreed. That show would have been a very tough one to judge in the 5th gen category. So many awesome clean tasteful cars.

Actually, car shows are quite simple.
The most correct, flawless, cleanest car wins. Modified cars do not win (outside of modified classes).

Car shows are not supposed to be about the presentation or the display.
It's about the car. The most correct, most flawless, cleanest car should win.
Modified cars should not win outside of a modified class.

I was surprised by the choice of the winner of the 5th gen class as well, however, I thought the work that was done to his car was damn nice. Some of the paint work and detail work done on that car was phenomenal. Clean? Yeah. Different? Yeah. And modified? His car had stock wheels (that were painted 6 ways to Sunday) stock airbox and intake (that were painted as well) and no body mods that immediately come to mind...so technically, other than paint, there were no body or performance modifications to the car that I recall.

So if someone had bought a Camaro off the show room floor that morning and drove it straight to the Fest, they would have won. Correct?

Clearly the show portion wasn't advertised as a 1000pt system show where much of the above would apply. This was put on and judged by the local Camaro club, Adams and some GM reps. Hardly experienced 1000pt judges.

Even then you have plenty of lobbying for x car over another due to a genuine armrest vs a repro. Happens all the time. I wasn't even at this event but know enough to realize this type of show anyone can win. Straight stock or not and modified gets pretty dicey with this type of show. I'm sure everyone did their best and it's all in fun anyways.

If it was the most correct, most flawless, cleanest car in it's class, then YES!
You may not agree with that, but that's how real car shows work.

They have modified classes for cars that are modified. That's where they belong.

That's why I don't take any of my cars to popular judged shows. Most people don't know their butts from a hole in the ground when it comes to judging a car.

If it has "pretty rims" or chrome under the hood, they think it should win.

I went to get autographs last year and won a Camaro award. Wasn't in the show, showed up and won. She said she just loved my car and wanted to have her award. I got a little choked up there.

From my Note

chevy 3 08-06-2013 08:18 PM

Um no and no. At the fest from what I've seen. All cars are together and looked at and judged as such.
My 2lt Rs 2010 was lucky enough to grab John Fitzpatrick award and it was heavy modified. Remember its about the CARS and owners.
I didn't get to see this car but who ever did realy liked it and so there is an award for them.
How about good job to said owner.
