iPad 2 + Smartcover mod

2 Attachment(s)
So I came up with a idea to put my new iPad in my Camaro today. With the first iPad it was extremely hard to figure out where to place it. Well... With the second iPad you are able to get what Apple calls a "smartcover". If you do not know what it is.. It's pretty cool. It's a cover made entirely of magnets and leather. This all happened by accident (just like other great inventions/mods in history). I placed the iPad by the radio and the smart cover on the dash. When I let go, it didn't fall. The magnets on the Smartcover are strong enough to where it holds onto the dash (even during strong turns!). I am very impressed with this. No need to buy a stupid mounting kit. All you have to do is get the Smartcover with the new iPad 2. Let me know what you think

I'm guessing the center speaker grille.

I am assuming these are natural mags in this case right? so it is attaching to the body and frame of the PDIM and the only thing you are affecting is the OEM radio screen and quality of sound your stock stereo puts out, and thats only if the wire shielding is cheap. I would assume GM didn't twist all speaker wires behind the dash.

conclusion: Nothing really, its a good idea

Disco Disco Good Good!

I can't be sure where the magnets are attaching to on the dash, but the audio quality is the same and nothing hasn't blown up yet. I'll take a picture of where it is exactly on the dash for others to get a better idea of how it is being attached to the dash.

That's an epic discovery. Do you have anything behind the iPad to prevent scratching to the factory display? Does the iPad 2 connect via Bluetooth?

Nothing is behind it. I will be getting a Invisashield placed on the back next week to prevent scratching on both the iPad and the screen on the radio. The center speaker is what is allowing the magnet to stay in place. I finally found something useful with that center evil speaker! :sm0:

I will try bluetooth later and see how it works. USB does not work at this time.
