I haven't read it all yet, but I'm excited. Nice find ;)

Txturbo 08-11-2008 12:40 PM

Yeah...a lot of details on improvements made over the LS1/6.

BowtieGuy 08-11-2008 12:51 PM

Sweet. With few exceptions the blocks for LS3 and LS9 are identical! makes me feel better about an aftermarket supercharger.

I especially liked how they said Chrysler basically copied their design.

Nice read, Thanks!:w00t:

I want a high-res of the "exploded view" on the last page!

Did anyone see the Oil-cooler built into every Camaro LS3? Along with the oil temp gauge in the cockpit, this car is set for hard driving...

Here's a "re-sized" version.

Yeah tell me aout it. There's like 10 times the parts and only twice the horsepower and 3 times the torque.

WTF is wrong with your engine?!!! j/k

For the life of me, I STILL, have a difficult time understanding how a rotary works. I mean, I've read and watched articles and videos but my simple mind can't wrap itself around the idea. I'm going to stick to cam-in-block and pushrods, LOL.

Nice car but I have kept up with my 07 Si.

gunslinger 08-12-2008 08:48 PM

Wankels are a nice change from the common piston engine, but efficiency, emission, and power problems all make it a less desirable design for mass production and sales...

The amazing power of aluminum doritos.

Posted merely for comparison (don’t want to derail the thread), a rotary has all of 3 major moving parts. It’s a fascinating design and too bad more research can’t be put into it to improve it. And it needs improvement in efficiency and power. Mazda is the only one who does and their budget is quite small. I’d love a 3 rotar 20b style motor. The 16x is supposed to be more efficient and will be more powerful as it displaces 1.6 liters. It still won’t do more than probably 280-290hp though.

No Civic has ever kept up with me but yeah its not a stoplight racer to be sure. Especially in any kind of turn, give me a curvy track and I'll outrun a Mustang GT.

It’s a scalpel not a hammer.

If the Camaro handles even 70% as well I’ll be very pleased.
