question for Oklahoma City people

I have a black SS arriving in a few weeks and I'm looking for recommendations on where to get my wheels powder coated in the okc/edmond area. I'm going with gloss black. I'm considering some flat black stripes with black bowties and would appreciate any paint shop recommendations as well.

Thanks!

A good friend of mine works at Flair in Edmond. If he oversees it, it will be a nice job. His name is Dale.

nice, can they do the wheels and the paint there?

As soon as I can come up with a specific paint code, I'm having my wheels painted / powder coated at Wheel Works of Oklahoma. They are located at 2435 SW 14th Street in OKC (a couple blocks west of Cattleman's in the stockyards.)

I got a quote of $125 per wheel which includes fixing a tiny curb rash spot on one. They let me go into their shop and check out some of their work and I was extremely impressed.

I think I will hit them up to highly polish my stock rims. Do the tires have to be off of the rims already?

I want to get my rims powder coated black, would like to see how they turn out.

I asked about that and was told "no." In fact, I was told I could just drop my car off on the way to work and pick it up on my way home (with an appointment of course.) They would do all the work, re-mount the tires, balance (with weights on the inner side of the rim) - everything. I'd like to hear them say that a second time; painting and mounted back on the car in such a short time concerns me a bit. I have ignorance aplenty on this procedure so I wonder if that really enough time to cure properly.

Ok so I spoke to Gary from GW and Son in edmond and he gave me a price of $500 for just the stripes. Is that a good price for stripes? Sorry this is my first time I will be doing any mods to a car I own so I have no idea what is a good price for these things.

okfiltch 12-16-2009 07:23 PM

That seems reasonable for the stripes. I have seen them go for up to $1500.

You should show him pics of your rear quarters. The tires should be done by the time the engine is broken in. :sm0::sm0:
