Would you let your GF drive your camaro?

So I'm sure many know of AdamZ lol for some reason he's has been pretty good about being known around here. Well, recently he's let me drive his camaro. I've NEVER driven a manual before so I was pretty scared I'd break his car  besides not many people drive their first manual in a $40,000 car haha! So I was thinking.. Would others let their girlfriends drive their cars? Especially when they don't even know what a clutch is haha! Or is he just a crazy man? :)

Cars are meant to be driven. I've let co workers drive my cars, cousins, mother in law, and my kids when they were teanagers. My son drove my Plymouth Prowler to his senior prom on the 4rd day I owned it in 2001. My daughter drove it on Hot Rod Power Tour in 2005 and dragged raced in two states when she was 19. I let a 70 year client drive my 500 HP SSR (6 speed) to pick up his wife for lunch. I have no problem with family or friends driving my Camaro - all they need is a driver's license and know that I expect the car back in one piece. ;) I love having other create memories driving my cars.

menendez1293 05-16-2013 10:54 PM

My answer would be based on how much I trust their driving ability. While I don't have a girl friend at the moment I hope that whomever I end up with knows to respect my car as much as I do. But I'm not a big fan of people driving my car. It gets me all worried for some reason

Zabo 05-16-2013 10:55 PM

Mine can't.. she can't even reach the pedals to work the clutch. She's 4'10. Guess I win at life by default.

Considering I drive her Corvette 427 because she can't drive stick, she drives mine when we take both cars to shows.

Sapper12b 05-16-2013 11:06 PM

Hell yeah i would let my girl drive my Camaro!

14pilot 05-16-2013 11:14 PM

No way... Neither my girlfriend, mistress or my wife will ever drive my Camaro. End of story.

PHXLT1 05-16-2013 11:19 PM

Does the wife count? If so, then yea.......although it seems like everytime she does something breaks on it. Coincedence? I think not!

GotGame55 05-16-2013 11:19 PM

of course, now you should sign autographs for all of us, I want one of your hoods autographed and sent to me

CamaroDreams76 05-17-2013 01:48 AM

My first manual car I drove was a 1999 Corvette C5 (gargae car, in 2009 it had less than 6k on it...... and was not mine)

Let me put it this way....... I'd never let a gf drive my 04 saturn ion and those are slow and dent resistant. I <3 my tupperware HA!

Trentin24 05-17-2013 01:53 AM

NO.

PIPE 05-17-2013 06:38 AM

ROBOSSRS 05-17-2013 07:13 AM

Since I don't have a girlfriend , no. My wife , yes. I don't she ever will , she is afraid she will wreck it . Yes she can drive a manual tranny.

Yes in the end it just a car, my wife drove my 2001 Z28 many times before we were married, I had several of my girlfriends dive my Camaros and Firebirds.

DuskSS 05-17-2013 08:41 AM

If Tiff could drive (I mean physically) then absolutely I'd teach her how to drive a stick beater then let her drive the SS.
she has helped with every aspect of the car and loves it as much as I do. It breaks my heart due to being born legally blind she will never get to feel the joy of driving a muscle car herself.

LuSe4 05-17-2013 08:49 AM

I would let my wife drive mine. I actually forced her to drive it. She was a little rusty driving a manual, but it came back to her. She is a good driver, but is still afraid that she will wreck it, even though I tell her it can be fixed or replaced.

The one thing I won't let her do is park it in a parking lot. She may be a good driver, but sometimes her choice of parking spots is questionable.

dkp2LT 05-17-2013 08:58 AM

If my wife was OK with it then I'd let my girlfriend drive it anytime she wanted.

Seriously - there's no way I would not let me my wife drive mine. It's 1/2 hers but still I'm lucky that she understands how much I take care of it so she's not interested in driving it at all. In fact she only drove my Corvette once or twice.

45thAnniversary2SS 05-17-2013 09:13 AM

If I'm in the car with her, yes.

11BEE 05-17-2013 09:34 AM

I would let anyone drive any of my cars as long as I trust they are not reckless or drunk. A car is meant to be enjoyed. My 16 year old drives a twin turbo 300ZX in manual.

SPARTAN sui 05-17-2013 09:47 AM

I want people I know to experience driving my car. I think it's a fun car to drive and quite a bit different than your standard sedan that most people are familiar with driving.

How does she own a Corvette 427 that she can not drive? :iono:

My fiancé is 5'0" so she can't reach the clutch either.

Wabbit 05-17-2013 10:02 AM

I haven't let my wife drive mine yet, and I've had it for eight months. She asked me on Sunday if she would be able to drive it before my daughter does (she's 13). I looked at my daughter, and she shook her head no.

Yes, I will be teaching my daughter how to drive my manual Camaro.

DRKnight1SS 05-17-2013 10:10 AM

I let my sister drive my SS but that's only cause she knows how to drive a manual already. I'd be hesitant to let someone drive it that needed to learn how to work the clutch. :o
