Got my isolator ported throttle body and ported intake manifold today can't wait to get installed hoping to see some gains I have all bolt ons now besides cams

Good stuff!

I'd recommend getting a 2nd GM manifold gasket while you are at it, and purchasing slightly longer (10mm longer) intake manifold bolts.

Stock bolts won't work

Ventmaster 02-19-2014 03:16 PM

Actually you can use the stock IM main mounting bolts, but you will be reducing the thread depth by half (from 1" to about 1/2").

Be sure and use a torque wrench (18 ft/lbs) and you should be fine if you're in a hurry to enjoy your new HP!

If you're more patient, a set of 140mm bolts will restore the stock depth. They can be found here- http://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_hex_...?Selected=6238

Either way, have fun

:happyanim: let the fun begin !

Isn't the SLP Camaro already modded?? You don't need longer bolts for the 3/8 iceolator.

rtcat600man 02-19-2014 05:44 PM

When torquing the bolts be sure to do it when everything is cold. you do not want to strip ones of those holes. also, be sure to come back a week later and check the bolts, again when everything is cold.

Yes, you can use the stock bolts with the 3/8 spacer.

Yes, using a second gasket avoids having to use any silicone sealant.

Yes the the Camaro came modded with a slp blackwing intake and slp exhaust and a diablosport programmer but the exhaust was to raspy and the intake looked stock so I took all of it off and modded it how I want yes its not a ZL327 anymore but it still has the badges to full people hah

Im going to wait to install it i just ordered mace cams so I'm getting done all at once

KMPrenger 02-19-2014 09:45 PM

yes you can use the stock bolts with the 3/8" ice-olator....In fact I used them myself when I was just running one gasket and then gasket maker on the other side.

But the recommendation from RX at the time was when using two gaskets, that getting longer bolts for the added depth was a good thing...so that's what I ended up doing. Like mentioned above...don't tighten over 18 ft lbs...especially when your only running half the depth on the bolts.

I'm looking forward to seeing your build! Keep us informed.

I would never contradict you KP- you are much too well informed! And I also recommend the use of longer mounting bolts when using 2 IM gaskets.

I just wanted to avoid the misinformation that stock bolts will not work in that application.

Stunna good luck with the Mace cams- keep us posted! :pop2:

I ended up with the longer bolts when I ordered the plenum spacer. It was at this time adding the plenum spacer that I added the second gasket. Sorry I did not use the stock bolts when I added the 2nd gasket.
