tire rotation...
Easy question for all...
Whats the best way to know that you need to rotate your tires? My car is all stock with the expensive p-zero's and id like to make them last as long as possible. Is there a schedule to follow? What is the pattern for rotation? Thanks again for the help guys! |

The 20's are NOT directional.
But they are staggered so all you can do is find 2 more and decide what size you want to run... 245 or 275 all around. |
So you can't even rotate them side-to-side?

Radials have always been front to back .... back to front.

Best way to rotate your tires? Floor it!

Although my 20" P-Zeroes aren't "directional", they do have an "inside" which is marked on the sidewall.
So, you could switch from side to side, but the tire would just be running backwards from what it was before, with the same edge on the outside. |
Going side to side WILL cup the hell out of your tires. Every tire I rotated side to side because the customer is always right came back a few months later with cupping or belt seperation causing a nasty bump in the tire. Side to side was fine for bias ply.
IMO, rotating wears down all 4 tires so you need to purchase 4 at a time instead of 2. On my cars its usually the 2 rear.:burnrubber: |

That is why I opted for the 19" tires instead of the 20".
I thought having different size tires in the back than the front was ridiculous. Also I bought the lifetime warranty from Discount Tire for $150.00 which covers repair, replacement, rotation, and balance of all 4 of my tires. |

Looks beefy yes, but I'd prefer longer wear :) I put the same rear tires/wheels on all 4 corners so I will be rotating them. Suggested in the Owner's Manual is:
"Tire rotation is recommended if the vehicle has the same size tires on all four wheel positions. These tires should be rotated every 5,000 to 8,000 miles (8 000 to 13 000 km). See Scheduled Maintenance on page 10-2." It shows side to side and front to back so I would think cris-crossing them is ok. If people say it cups them, then I'll just do back to front :) |
