Re-Use Caliper Bolts? Or Buy New?

What do you recommend? Some red lock tight on the old ones or buy new?

I've heard of both ways. The manual says to always replace them, so that's what I did. $20ish of bolts is cheap insurance and should be an infrequent cost.

Buy new. They're only $4 a piece.

I'm contemplating getting my calipers powder coated sometime in the near future is the only reason I'm potentially on the edge of just using some lock tight for now. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had any bad experience ' s going that route.

I used red locktite and haven't had any issues. Just don't over-torque them.

Or buy new.. they aren't that expensive either.

I ended up buying new. The risk to $ ratio wasn't worth it in my eyes lol.

You should use Loctite if you use new or if you reuse. I used Blue on my suspension install.

I agree, I usually use the blue but the bolts I get from JDP come pre threaded with red lock tight.

I have reused them a couple of times with no problems. Just used some blue lock tight. Granted when I did my CTS-V swap I got new bolts from Maureen @ Rodgers Chevrolet.

Think it was $35 but that was also with two new wiper blades.

You just reminded me that i need new wiper blades!

I figure even if i re-use the old ones it will be good to have an extra set laying around.. Im prbly going to end up pulling them off here soon anyways to get my calipers powder coated..

I used to remove and reinstall calipers constantly on my track cars. I used the same bolts with some Loctite. Reason being was that I was doing it so much it would have been insane to replace the bolts every single time. I never had a single issue. However, if you're doing it once, how could it hurt to replace. :)

Call Maureen if I remember correctly it was $35 for all bolts and both wipers shipped to my door.

I ended up getting a killer deal thru my boy at JDP for the bolts. I'm not sure if he sells the wiper blades or not though..
