What is the best way to race a L99? - Please Help

Guy's forgive me for my ignorance but i have a question

what is the best mode to race the 2SS L99 Automatic Transmission 2010 Camaro

i am not a pro driver i bought the car because i love the way it looks and drives/feels

and because its the New Camaro (no more need be said)

please help

because i took it to the track and got a 9.025 (my best) on a 1/8th of a mile track

which is not what GM said it would do

and i know alot of this could be my driving but also there are rumors of the L99 having some under preforming issues so with that in mind it makes me think

is it me? or the car? or maybe even both?

HOW I GOT A 9.025 on a 1/8 Track:
1. i Had the car in Competitive Stable Track Mode
2. Held down the break and took the RPMs to about 2k (at a stand still)
3. on Green i let of the break simultaneously pounding the gas peddle to the ground floor

Don't use the comp. mode, just turn off the traction control, put it in M use the sport mode NOT tap shift.Bring it up against the convertor and let it eat when the last amber comes on.
