Gauging Interest for a track day at Michelin Proving Grounds in Greenville, SC

Just like the title says, I'm working on setting up a track day with the guys at the Michelin Plant here in Upstate SC. They do an annual event with the corvette guys and a few other car clubs and I'm wanting to get something set up for us. Depending on potential turnout, we might have to piggyback with the corvette guys, but I'd like to get this going as our own separate event.

Right now I need to get a feel for how many people would come out so that I can give the numbers to the Michelin guys to show them that there is a bona-fide interest in doing this.

I've spoken with the LPG liason and they have checked out Camaro5 and are very interested in having us at their facility. I'm waiting for an invoice from them on monday to discuss our options as far as track rental, admission fees, regulations, etc.

So who would like to come out and make use of the 3300 acre proving grounds for a Camaro5.com sponsored track day at Michelin?

Just post up in the thread that you would like to do this. and any questions/concerns you might have as well.

This is going to be more than just a track day. I'm planning on having a full days event starting off with a cruise thru downtown Greenville, SC and ending up at the facility. Racing all day at the track along with activities and a car show for those who dont want to race.

I'm contacting local speed shops and our own sponsers to see about having them come out as well to show off their stuff for us.

I need your guys' help to get the word out about this. one of the big kickers for this to be pulled off is attendance. Michelin would love to host our event, but we need to show them that we can bring enough cars and people to make it worth their while!

*UPDATE June 28*

I talked to Michelin again today.

They are going over the paperwork and should have something concrete for me tomorrow. The tentative date will be Nov 11-12. There is another group who has expressed interest in renting the track during the same timeframe we are. I'm fighting hard for this to happen this year. I need you all to spread the word and get more people on here to add to the attendance list so I have more ammo tho throw at Michelin to do this.

Bump!!! Aug 9 update!!!!

Just got back from checking out their track today. We have 2 options for track rental.

Wet handling course or the asphalt lake.

here's a link to the LPG site with details on both.

Vote up and let me know which one you want to do!

Let me know when you get a date. I work for the Carolina Hurricanes and I would have to work around their schedule in order to be able to attend.

Thankx for putting this together, should be a great day..

David and Kayla are in. We did it last year in the Corvette's and it was a blast. They put the Corvette's on the road course and it was a lot of fun.
They also had 4 corvette's from GM with Goodyear's and Michelin Tires, and we got to drive there cars so you could tell the differance in tire preformance.

Just threw up some pic's last week if you check my garage. Plus you can take a look in person at the LMCC show on the 30th. HHP Carolina has done all the work on my car (they did an awesome job btw) and it will be at the HHP tent ;)
