They remind me of just two regular car guys, not professional racers. Kind of like most of the people actually buying these cars and driving them and they get paid to do crazy stuff too. Sounds like my kind of job.

Funny review, I think at the end when they said if you pick the red car you can't loose out on an awesome car (or something like that). Of course both cars were red, and they did lay some rubber down on the pavement.
Of course they did not mention that the ZL1 is also offered in an auto tranny which would eliminate the cup holder problem while shifting gears.
But overall a fair honest write up from a fun perspective.

"Fuel economy? Why?" - Love it.

I think that's how all car reviews should go. Most are too "techie" and make decisions based on performance ranges that the vast majority of owners never venture into.

On another note, I've had multiple conversations with Cheryl Pilcher regarding the problems with the cup holders and manual transmissions. It was not a priority for Chevy, clearly. Probably shouldn't have been either. My Hurst upgrade did mitigate the problem by shortening the throw.

What I think is when they heard about the ZL1 they rushed to make the Shelby faster and may have not gotten everything ironed out before production began.

the gt500 has been using the exact same shifter arrangement since it came out in 2007 (remote mount). though it's worlds better than the shifter arrangement on a 2005-2010 mustang GT, remote mount shifters can suffer in cars with a lot of torque. but in my opinion, the gt500 shifter is as good as a remote mount shifter can be.

production schedules have absolutely nothing to do with the shifter. i'm not sure what the problem was with this one. maybe it's an isolated incident like with that one review (one of the first comparos) where they had shifting issues in the zl1

Thats why I prefer an automatic, impossible to miss a shift :)

He's not the first to have problems shifting the Mustang, must need a new designed shifter. They'll probably fix it next year.

There was also a review with constant missed shifts in the zl1. One of the first track comparisons. Sometimes you just have to figure out the shifter with time.

My ZL1 is just now at break in mileage. I haven't been to a track or found a secluded straight strech. I was wondering if short shifting like they did on the ZL1 is the fastest way down the track?

Its the same tranny as the zl1 just with different ratios so I think the problem is the shifter itself or maybe the driver position in relation to the shifter is causing the driver to miss shift...:iono:

Can't believe Ford still hasn't fixed the shifting issue with the Shelby. I had a 2010 and would get locked out of 2nd when speed shifting all the time. Was a common problem. That was 3 yrs ago and still same issue. Did I say I'm glad I've got a ZL1 now?

Perfect, what most of us buy these cars for. :burnrubber:
