They said they begged ford for a boss 302 on that comparison, and ford said no.
I wonder why?

The article is out now in the March issue of Motor Trend. The article says Ford wouldn't let them have the car because it is a separate model (as are probably a dozen other mustang 'models '), and the 1LE is a package option.

I agree, Ford should have let MT have a 302 Boss...but I doubt the times would have been any better for the Mustang.

They said that the boss 302 was different model, basically I guess because it's the same car with a heads and cam engine upgrade. I think if Chevy put a heads and cam engine upgrade in the 1LE, the ZL1 might even be in a little trouble :)

They are leaving the heads/cam upgrade to us consumers so we can void our warranties.

The Boss most definitely would have a faster lap time but the 1LE would still come out on top. It would have been a closer race and a more enjoyable comparison. The Boss LS comparo is the one we've all been waiting for though.

The end to this is hilarious. I think Ford was scared they would ruin the name of the BOSS Mustang because they knew it would lose thats why they didnt send it.

I would of loved to see the 302 vs the 1LE
