Sub/amp opinions wanted

Later this summer I finally will be able to complete my audio upgrade. I currently have a kenwood double din and hertz audio components. Now I'm trying to figure out a good mono block amp and single 12 combo. I know I want a ported box as well. I'm also wanting to stick around 500 rms range. So far I've looked at a rockford fosgate 500 watt mono block amp and I've looked at rockford P3D4-12 sub and RE audio SEX sub. Any thoughts on these or possibly others?

here's what I put in all these threads, just something to think about when go to buy, you can look for last years Amp's as well, I got an 4 channel Alpine amp for my front speakers, that was 2nd from top rated 2012, listed for $489 originally, got it for $120.....

look at Sub reviews for 2012, look at CNET etc. (some links below, but there are many)

for example, I found my component infinity KAPPA's front speakers that came out last year, for amazing prices, think they were originally listed for $350 and I got them for $89 thought one of the vendors on Amazon. They sound just as good this year as last

This early in the year they should still have stock of last years Sub's as well.....if they sounded good last year, they will sound good this year....speakers dont spoil

so look around for one of the top rated Sub's from last year, and I bet you get a crazy good deal on one of the top 5 from someone who has stock they need to move.......

I'm personally looking into the Infinity Kappa 100.9w Subwoofer or Infinity Kappa 120.9W, it has great ratings and is way more versatile than many for changing things up....

I run a Sound Solutions Audio (SSA) DCON 12" and bang for buck on only 300 WRMS in a ported box and it is straight up musical and pounds. That's their cheap line too. Look them up, they are made in the USA too.

I'm very happy with my RE Audio SEX 12". I'm running 400W and it booms in a sealed box. Really feel it in the chest

I've read a lot if great reviews on RE's stuff. I'm thinking about going that rout. Did you do a 4 ohm or 2 ohm sub?

Its been a while... but I think it was a 2 ohm dual voice coil... but not 100%. Only matters depending on what your amp is stable at. I have a 4 channel for the other speakers and a 2 channel (bridged) for the sub. And a clean sweep... very full trunk! I'm looking out for a beefy 5 channel.

Just something to keep in mind!
