How to dust the car off without scratching?

I live on a dirt road and every night that I wash the car the next day there is a layer of dust on it. Also I just drive down the road once and the back is full of dust even if I go as slow as I can.

Anyone know if there are brushes that can dust the car without scratching the paint?

Would this work?

I use lint free towels looks like old school cloth diapers from auto parts store.

california car duster. They work great. All the pros use them. I've used them for 25 years.

California car duster. Just make sure and wipe it lightly across the surface. Works great. I was hesitant at first but when I go to car shows and guys with $300k Ferraris are using them, they're good enough for my $40k Camaro.

Yeah...that California duster is ok. It never really did the job for me.

I finally just picked up the Meguires quick detail spray. I have a big bottle for home and small one I take out on the road to shows. I picked up a ton of microfiber towels from Sams and when it gets dusty, I just spray it down really quickly and then wipe it down with the microfiber.

For some reason, when I use the Cali duster, it never gets all the dust off...just kind of moves it around.

cal duster. now it will pick up the dust with out hurting the clear coat. also the dirtier it gets the better which seems to be true cause it works on my car.

another way to help you protect is put a nice layer of wax on the car, so it will help the dust come off when you use the duster. Also i would recommend using the mequiars nXt tech 2.0 paste, just put on lightly you do not need to put muscle into it cause then you are taking the wax off.

now do that and then the duster and every so often with mequiars detail spray detail the car for a nice shine. just my input

Try using the California duster first, then spray on the Meguires quick detail.:D

Cali Duster. Just wrap that badboy in newspaper for about 3 days before using to get rid of excess wax

California duster works great!! I left in paper for about a week and it still seems to have excess wax though.

scythezo6 09-22-2009 07:35 PM

Yea the wax can be a bit annoying. I just don't press down very hard when I use it and its fine. I also wrapped my in about 6 whole newspapers. Thing looked like a mummy.
