Tires

So, apparently I need new tires. 47,000 kms and they need to be replaced! Is that normal for the Camaro? I never lay rubber either!

I don't necessarily want to replace the rims, but if I can get a set of good tires and rims for a reasonable price (plus selling my original stock RS/SS rims), I might go for it.

Recommendations? Where can I go shopping in Calgary?

I'd shop south of the border and save yourself some cash. I would try to run them down to the nub and buy new in the fall.

Innovative Autoworx they have saved me so much cash on tires. I have Falken 452's on my Camaro and I shopped around and everywhere else was about 600 bucks more then anywhere else in town. Also they saved me about 500 bucks on my Toyo MT's for my Truck.

Other option is Discount Tire Direct online. They are cheap.

With everybody buying aftermarket, buy some takeoffs from the for sale section, and send them to at the border storage in sweet grass Montana to save the a$$rape shipping prices to canada, they don't charge much to hold them there, I've done several parts/tires and even engine shipments to them and it works well

ugh...so many tire brands to choose from, and even more rim options...

I'm such a noob when it comes to tires and rims, I have no idea whats good or whats bad...

KX Wheels out of Vancouver is a good outlet to deal with, some of the best pricing in Canada. Will ship to your door mounted and balanced as well. Check out their website and if you feel better calling ask to speak to Christian, tell him Layla out of Brooks referred you. Who knows might get you a little better deal, Oh and my Pirellis have about 6/32rds left, can have them if you want should get you through another summer

Thanks. I went to the KX Wheels site, and tried searching for tires for my car, and it comes up empty?!? Maybe it doesn't like Windows 8/IE 10?

The inspection says my tires are:
Front 3/32 and 3/32
Rear 1/32 and 1/32

I'm assuming those numbers are really bad, and I need tires now? Won't make it through the summer?

KX is awesome! Lots of my friends have ordered rims and tires from them without any issues.

As for getting through the summer with what you are showing for tread depth...maybe. However you won't have good traction in wet weather or a decent rain without tread to move the water safely away from the tire. If it were me...I would be putting new tires on.

NFRNOSS 03-29-2013 01:23 PM

Yeah I figured that tread depth wouldn't get me through summer. Thanks!

What your showing for tread depth is absolutely un safe! Most people get max 35-40,000kms out of a set of pirellis. You need new shoes ASAP

Wow. I doubt I'll buy those again then. I'll want something that will last me a little longer!

High performance tires don't last as long

Went to a few places to get quotes today.

Davenport had some Pirelli's they were selling from another Camaro that was getting an upgrade. They wanted around $1200.

Quoted some forgeline rims and Falken tires, around $1500/rim and $1200 for the tires to with the rims.

CMP Dealership had the same Pirelli PZero's for about $1800 (installed, included taxes). They also quoted me some Conti Extreme Contact, for $1800 ish as well.

Also went to Kal Tire. They quoted me some Nitto Invo's for around $1300, and some Nitto Motivo for $1300.

Tried to find a fountain tire, but they were all closed. Same with OK Tire. Tried Crappy Tire, but they don't have anything for the SS, and if they did, they wouldn't honor the warranty for them...lol.

I did notice I was sliding around a lot today...lol. Figured it was the power, now I know its the lack of tread!
