I posted these on the main page but thought they should land here as well. Pics of my 2011 2LT w/ HUD in action. Well worth the wait for me. Love the radio function showing at times.

I didn't realize at first you were from Canada, so when I saw the 120 I was wondering what the heck you were doing taking pictures at that speed. The HUD is a pretty cool setup. I don't think I could have made myself wait for it, but I do like it.

clg_98ta 06-22-2010 12:14 PM

Something I've been wondering... Can you see the display from the outside the windshield?

sangerbanger58 06-22-2010 01:03 PM

i wonder if i can put this on my 2010 camaro

guiLT 06-22-2010 01:04 PM

I'm sure they can. It will just require new dash parts and some hook ups.

Revo1 06-22-2010 01:09 PM

Right on! Thanks for posting! Have yet to even see a 2011 here in CA, dealers don't even have them yet...

lock 06-22-2010 01:12 PM

Part of the light is reflected back to the driver's eyes, while the remainder shines straight up in the air through the windshield. To see it from the outside, you would need to look down through the windshield and into the projector lens.

franknbeans 06-22-2010 01:24 PM

jealous.

khabboub 06-22-2010 01:47 PM

oh that is so cool. gosh i hope this can be put in the 2010s

Dr.Bender 06-22-2010 01:56 PM

SuitcaseLT2 06-22-2010 02:25 PM

Thats wicked...Thank you so much for posting these pics, I'm still waiting on mine 2LT non RS with roof ordered 05/18/10. One thing that I was was wondering is if you can turn the HUD off when you don't want it on?

on that note, my GTP has HUD, if you wear polarized sunglasses, you cant see the display

looks cool and all, but after using it for a while i dont even have it on in the GTP anymore

TaylorRyanSS 06-22-2010 02:36 PM

I wish it looked cooler. Like more futuristic and maybe used the Camaro font or something, it just looks blah and its so tiny it looks lost on that big windshield.

Maa107 06-22-2010 02:42 PM

Is it just me or does the HUD look really far?

I agree. Looks like something that would annoy me actually. I'n not too lazy to move my eyes a few degrees down to look at the damn dashboard instead.

It looks far because of the angle and the pic was taken with an cell phone. Being tall, the camera was at a different position than my eyes. The good thing is that it can be adjusted up or down based on your sight line, or turned off if that's what you prefer. Pictures do give an idea, but it really doesn't do it justice.

For me, it was never something I would have needed in a car but since I've started using, I really like it a lot.

my dad has HUD in his 02 (i think) vette and yea its cool at first but i find myself lookin back down at the dash anyway so its different but it wears off after awhile in my opinion it would be a waste of money to change over my 2010 windshield and everything for somethin like that

LAWMAN 06-22-2010 03:26 PM

looks cool,i like it but not a neccessity for me,

solo40oz 06-22-2010 03:57 PM

does this require a different windshield to work properly?

Grandeos 06-22-2010 04:01 PM

Im glad I did not wait for this feature. I was expecting a much larger display. That tiny little graphic IMHO is not worth it. Is it really that much harder to glance down at the Driver Information screen between the gauges??

I think the HUD system should be re-designed to cover a larger span of the windshield. Maybe it's just because I'm a product of the digital age..... and i'm used to info displays from a variety of racing video games....... but sorry, I'm not impressed.

Yes it does. I work at a glass company and many many years ago we tried it on a grand prix and no go. There is a filament in the glass that projects it And GM was way ahead of there time on this all the other auto makers had a little 3x3 or so square in the window that you could see and it looked like sh**.

SoFlaZ 06-22-2010 04:24 PM

NICE!

I think the camera position has a lot to do with it looking small, the camera was in front of the steering wheel. IF you are looking at it from where your head actually is during driving, it probably is a little bigger and more readable. I've never looked at one in real life before and just my thoughts. Plus they really cant put a huge projection up there and potentially block your view of the road.

With all due respect..a large display? Would that not defeat the whole entire purpose. I agree it is def not a "need", but something cool to have. No one said it was hard to look down...I don't see a purpose in the HUD excluding MPH, nor would I drive this car off the road into a blaze of flames without it. You are arguing you want a larger display (which I can only assume meaning more information) but you also don't see need for it? Did you just mean the text should be larger? This cell phone pic does not do justice to the size. While it is not "large", the size is fine when you see it in person.

I don't really understand why people find cost as an issue. The cost of the vehicle increased only 350 dollars, and in all likelihood we would have seen an increase eventually regardless. I can't remember the last time a vehicle did not increase slightly in cost from one production year to the next production year...and that was with no additions. This HUD is not much different from the vettes...and we won't see some futuristic, pilot HUD before the vette does.

The day you see a Gran Turismo mega HUD across your windshield is the day you no longer control the vehicle...

NOT EXACTLY TRUE. I HAVE REPLACED WINDSHIELDS FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE HUD, AND COULD NOT AFFORD THE HUD GLASS. (why do i have the caps on?) in any case i installed the non hud glass in the hud cars and it worked fine. now i dont know if this is the case for all hud cars, but i do know on pontiacs, buicks, and cadillacs it works.

This is true it still works but the display is not as clear if it doesn't have the proper windshield installed. I have seen HUD systems added to C5 corvettes that did not originally have one and they do not look as good because of the windshield not being changed. There is a reason for the proper glass ;)
