ENGINE SWAP QUESTION

:headbang:Does the LS3 and the LS7 use the same harness?
What I am asking is could I take a complete LS7 and basically plug it right into the hole and harness from my LS3, then just dyno tune?

Or is the computer different...Thanks:headbang:

The ECM's are not the same

2009 LS7 P/N 19253067
2006/08 LS7 P/N 19166569
2010 LS3 P/N 19201859

But is the wiring the same? I know that the programming would be different....is that the reason for the PCM difference?

I knwo you can plug an LSX block motor right in and just dyno tune it, I am trying to find out if the LS7 is the same thing.

I do not know that but i think so,

Injector sizes are different. A lot of the tables are set up for the 427 verses the 376.

With the right software you could make the changes from what I remember.

Most of the connections to the engine are the same. I would have to look at the engines side by side.

It's not a lot different that those who install stroker engines.

Don't look at GMPP of any help with this :(

If you get a crate engine it think it should be plug and play minus retuning the ECM.
I am NO EXPERT and have NOT EVER done an engine swap but I am going off of what this engineer has said.

Here is a video of the LS7 concept at SEMA, towards the end the guy says the LS3 and LS7 share the same external dimensions and was a simple swap

Here is some info on the LS7 Camaro, it had to be converted to a wet sump system as well which shouldn't be that hard.

I think when you get the crate LS7, you get the necessary computer as well. So does it really matter? I have never done an engine swap on a new vehicle, but it would see to me that is all you would need.

I am not using the GM Ls7, I have an aftermarket company that builds an LS7 at 650hp.

I would be dropping that in and having it all dyno tuned. I am basically going to go after the LS7 concept car but up the ante by having more HP.

From what I can tell, I should be able to drop it in and retune the ECM to the LS7 specs, then head to the dyno....Obviously the clutch will be replaced at that time also.

If anybody else wants to get in on this let me know, I could get you a deal!!!

I am still waiting on my quotes, but is anybody else interested in an LS7? or a shortblock? PM me and I can see what I can do, no promises though, but it will still be a good deal!

If you search the 04-06 GTO forums you will find at least one LS1 or LS2 to LS7 conversion.

IIRC: it was far from plug, tune and play.

You might be happier with an LS3 bored (and stroked?) to 7.0 L with an LS7 cam, injectors etc. It would make a nice sleeper since it would look just like a stock SS but run significantly faster...

:yikes:A wolf in sheep's clothing? I would vever do that...........
Oh yeah, there are other cool parts like the LSX7 heads pistons rods nitrous all under the engine cover....never.........:yikes:

There are many, many people running 400+ ci on ls1tech. You can re-use the stock computer, youre just going to need to get it retuned.
