3M 1080 Carbon Fiber wrap

Has anyone used this or seen it installed? I have a sample from the shop they would have to order a roll to do my hood and trunk. It comes in 60 inch width so no seems like 3M Di Noc but it is new not much out there on it besides pamphlets.

My guess is that it's the same as the dry carbon vinyl that most wrap shops use. It's a dry carbon that lacks the depth and look of wet carbon fiber like you see on body panels. It looks great until you put it next to wet carbon fiber, so you can't really use both on the same car or the vinyl will look cheap in comparison.

If you put clear coat over it, it started to look like hydrodipped plastic a little bit.

3D Carbon Fiber Wrap from Headlight Armor

We have looked at 3M's 1080 and have found it to be easier to tear and in general delicate to work with than our Hexis 3D wrap - Vendor thread here. Our material is available in a variety of sizes up to 60" wide. Check out the vendor thread and let me know if you have any questions about it.

3M 1080 is a decent wrap material but not the best. Di-Noc looks good but it is not automotive grade and really shouldn't be used on paint. The 3D stuff like Headlight Armor offers and some other Ebay vendors is really the best. Its got a great look, its easy to work with and safe for your paint. Do some research cuz there are decal vendors out there selling the 3D stuff really reasonably. I just ordered a 48"x48" sheet for only 32 bucks shipped.
