coilover install question

I am in the process of installing Z28 coilovers on my 1LE. I just got done with the fronts, following the Pfadt directions. I have a question though. There is a gap between the top retaining washer and the body as shown in the picture below. Is this a problem? I dont think it was there before the install. Do I have the washers on upside down?

Here is the gap on mine, I do not have coil overs just lowering springs and I have it too.

Yep, normal. When you jack the front of the car up, and the front suspension goes into droop, the gap goes away. When it is at ride height you have the gap. Simple way GM engineered retaining the top of the strut to the body structure, while minimizing noise/vibration/harshness.

Normal

Normal, coilover floats in the strut tower.
