Chrome Bowtie Tutorial

I thought this tutorial with picture examples will be helpful to alot of people changing the bowtie and not going the vinyl route. if Mods can merge the other silver bowtie thread with this Title, that would be great

I hate to necro such an old post... but it's a great tutorial none the less. Anyone have a good source for these bowties (cheapest)?

I just bought a set of polished aluminums from these guys...installing tomorrow...I will post pictures when I'm done...

They are still in the package...look like they are very nice quality...

I paid what they ask for on that site

The Latemodel Restoration Supply site? I've found most of these to be near the same price. However some list them considerably lower and show similar pictures. Hard to see what's real and what's fake. I'd need the lowest cost real product I can get. If that makes sense. :D

Ok here are a few pics....sorry about the quality installed...it started raining and I had to put her in the stable...

I did find something interesting when I removed the rear bowtie....no holes in the trunk! (car was made 05/10) I think that is different from the norm? I did manage to chip the paint a little trying to get the rear one off b/c I bent it to much when I was removing it...a little touch up paint and luckily the chip is underneath the new bowtie...here ya go...:chevy:

The dots on the car are water drops.....

Wait....so no holes under the emblem? Is your car a 2010 or 2011? I would love to remove the emblem permanently.....I'm very tempted to remove it now to see if I'm hole-less. How do I find my build date? I'd think it's in the VIN? Thanks.

Look at the sticker on your drivers side door...it will give you a build date...mine is definitely a 2010...built 05/10...with no holes behind the rear emblem...it was brand new when I bought it...I'm not sure if its the same for everyone else?

I think one other person has said the same thing....caught me off guard...if I would have known I probably would have just bought the front replacement bow tie and taken the rear one off

So I just tried to remove mine and it definately has alignment posts, damnit. Mine is a 4/10 build, so just one month later and yours doesn't have holes. I wish I didn't have holes because I hate badging all over the car. I removed the Camaro from both sides and the front and rear RS badges, so all I have is the front/rear bowties. Guess I'll be getting a vinyl blackout kit soon.

Guys!

Is this bowtie set different than the GM chrome/black replacement. It says that these emblems replace the GOLDEN part in the OEM bowtie !!

Or I simply mis-understood the golden part removal !!

All the ones I have seen replace the entire bowtie. The GOLDEN part is part of the original bowtie and you don't want to separate these two pieces.
