Hurst shifter for V6?
Anyone install the hurst shifter on their V6? Was wondering if it voids any warranty and how ya like it.
Post pics if ya have them. Thanks |
I thought the V6 manual tran has a different shift pattern than the SS cars?

Hurst does have a kit for the AY6 manual transmission.

Yes, same Hurst shifter that goes on the V8 cars fits the V6 cars. When you buy the kit the shift pattern has the Reverse up and to the right (SS cars). You need to buy an aftermarket ball with it on the left side or get a plain ball.

I love my Hurst shifter it was one of the first mods I did on my LS. The install was a bit of a pain because of the centering springs which I guess are not on the V8 and they don't give instructions for the V6 so I had to just figure it out. Just recently put on a t handle but no pics yet.

Frank, I've got the shifter, didn't bother with pics 'cause I kept the stock knob. Shouldn't void your warranty (didn't at my dealership) cause you're only changing the stick itself. I love it!

Anyone know if there's a DIY video for the V6 Hurst shifter install including the 'centering ring" that's mentioned?

Got it done......looks awesome, the centering rings were difficult to figure out at first, but after taking the upper rubber boot off, we figured it out. It's awesome so far, but I need to put some miles on it. We used the Dynomat, and I don't hear rattling, but I hear a whine now.......almost sounds like a supercharger...........I wish:rolleyes:

do they make a shorter stick for them tho? I have the hurst but i dont like how long the stick is. I thought about cutting my down but dont really want to if they make a shorter one.

Not sure........mine is for the retro look.........my plan is to make my car look more like the Gen 1 Camaro........houndstooth interior is expensive though. Shifter feels notchy so far..........
