Sad News On a Saturday morning

Well.... I have to say I am shocked/pissed/sad... I know some of you are going to probably think I am being stupid..... Maybe some of you will understand.

I got a text from my salesman last night and a couple missed calls on my cell. ( he is also a good friend of mine) I am thinking he was trying to call me to tell me that they got their dealer car in. :happyanim: I tried calling back but no answer. Well Ofcourse Im thinking that lucky SOB is out riding in the camaro and wont answer my call and Im stuck here at work.....:mad0260:

Well This morning............I get another text from him.

"I need to tell you something"

Hmmm... Doesn't sound like its about a camaro......

So I send him one back saying call me.

Well He calls....

Him: "Hey..... Uh..... I have something to tell you......

Me: The Camaro Dealer car came in right?? right? right? :happyanim:

Him: Uh...no.... We had a meeting yesterday.....And well As of Thursday I will no longer have a job.....................

Me: :iono: What? what do you mean? you are quitting? :( I know they didn't fire you.....did they? :mad0260: :paddle: Oh ok... This is some kind of joke right? Ha ha you had me....

Him: No Im serious... They are closing the dealership down.... Thursday is the last day

Me: :mad0260:  :barf: :paddle: :mad0260: :( :iono: :mad0260: :mad0260: :mad0259:

Him: This wasn't expected at all..... They had a meeting yesterday and Everyone else went in the back and I stayed out front for anyone that came in and 2mins later everyone was fussing or crying or slamming doors So I went back there to find out wth is going on... and Dick (yes that is his name, the owner of the dealership) is there with tears in his eyes saying it over...The dealership is not sustaining itself and doesn't see any turn around coming.....

Me: I can't believe this..... I feel like you just called and told me that my dog died or something.....

Him: I didn't see this coming at all....I knew sales were down but not bad enough to close the store down......

Me: I knew when he bought that crappy dodge dealership 2 years ago it wouldn't be good....

Him: Well he's keeping that open...

Me: :confused0068: what? that place has been losing money forever you go in there and there is tumble weeds rolling across the parking lot...

Him: I know... I dont know....Maybe he just hasn't told them yet and doesn't and doesn't want them to know before he can tell them....

Me:

Said he was going to come by later....

I can't believe it...

I knew most everyone there... And If I had time when I was in the area I would always stop and talk... especially after the camaro was debuted...I have bought 10 new vehicles from them in the past 4 or so years..

It may sound weird but its almost like losing a family member... I always enjoyed going there... All the other dealers I have went to just seemed like they were trying to get your attention on one thing while they had their hand in your wallet....

Sorry to hear this. I do understand. At least you did not have one on order. Sorry to hear about your friend and his job. That sucks. Really don't understand the keeping the Dodge dealership open if it is in worse shape than the GM dealership.

That's a sad story, :facepalm:and I feel bad for you and the dealership too. Can't even imagine how that hurts.

So have a few of these:drinking:, then have a good:cry: and then get back up, brush yourself off :character0293: and go find another Camaro. This should make you feel alot better.

I just wonder if the announced 9 week shut down this summer (instead of the usual 2) will coincide with a lot of additional dealership closings.

It would make sense since there would be a lot of vehicles already in the manufacturing pipeline that will need a new dealership destination. The extra 7 weeks will give GM time to sort it out.

Sorry to hear buddy...a good dealership is like a member of the family to a lot of people...and a lot of people are going to be losing good friends over the next few years.
