Where to place the floor jack?

Just wondering where the best locations are to place the floor jack for changing the front and rear wheels?

My guess would be on the floor. :0

Ok, nuff kidding. Look under the car and you should see a couple of slots in the frame just in front of the rear wheels and behind the front. Those should help 'hold' the rig while you jack it up. If you 'really' want to jack it up and be safe place them under the suspension arms just under the bolts. It's a little harder to reach this area and still use the jack so caution is advised.

One other question; how do you prevent the cup of the jack from scratching the frame of the car?

Get a rubber cap for your jack or use a piece of 2x4 wood.

Those structural frame points shown on the flipped camaro are great, but mine sits 4" off the ground now. How do you get a jack under the car that far? I use the points on the rail just under the rocker to lift it up enough to put the stands under the frame.

Put a hockey puck on the pad of the jack

I guess you guys didn't check out the video I posted huh?

SilverIceman 04-09-2012 10:27 PM

Yes, watched the corvette video. Good idea but I'd rather have the stands under the frame. The pinch rails under the rockers just don't look look as strong. I'm sure they are.
