Bowtie Blackout

Hi Guys,

After seeing some people's Camaros on the forums, I decided I want to Blackout my Bowties with Vinyl =D

I have a stupid question though... is there a special kind of vinyl I need to buy? because the DIY thread I read, didn't mention any adhesives... would the vinyls just stick in place without 3M or anything? Or do I need to buy Vinyl with adhesive backing?

Thanks in advance for any clarification!

Most vinyls have an adhesive backing...you can buy sheets on ebay for a couple bucks and cut it to fit yourself. pretty easy stuff.

Go to a local graphics/print shop and tell them you want a 12" x 12" piece of 3 mil black vinyl. One side will be sticky...

You can also pick it up at your local parts store chain. They have it in the form of a stripe kit... Might be more expensive, but if you cannot find it anywhere else locally...

Just curious, why Vinyl?
I really love these ( http://defenderworx.com/wp/wp-conten...2068676175.jpg ) from Defenderworx, and it isn't just because I put them on my car.

Well.. from my understanding you have to drill out the BACK bowties right? The thing is, I don't know if I want to blackout permanantly =p. I just thought Vinyl can be removed when i don't want the black =D lol

As for all the very helpful advice and recommendations, I thank you. So I need to look for Adhesive backing vinyl. Gotcha. Lot's of printshops around me, I'll ask them =D

Also... just a mini vote here, I plan on getting black. Should I try to get Matte Black? or Shiny? =D

got mine at Pep Boys. The sheet was 9 bucks, and big enuff for both bowties, and I still have much left.

Do you have anywhere that does window tinting and stuff in your area?

I got my vinyl for free! there's a place called Windshield Wizards here in S'toon and they do graphics, tinting and 3m bras etc. I just went in and asked if they had any scraps of black vinyl I could buy and they just gave me a big piece. It was an odd shape but more than enough to do both bowties and SS's.

Why buy blackout bowties when you can do it for free! or nearly anyways

Canadian tire has it sometimes as well in the window tint section. They only had the graphite stuff though when I was looking.

The stuff you're looking for is good and thick and has a paper backing on it.

Good luck!
