Cntryman77's Car Journal (Black/LS/M6)
"Born from Chaos, Nyx is the primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near the beginning of creation. Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power and beauty."
Unlike a lot of the owners here, I didn't order my car. I just stopped in at a local dealer one day to look & fell in love. I brought Nyx home on March 10, 2010. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_2744.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1761.jpg |
My First Mod
I bought my car as a daily driver, so my first mod was practical. I bought a set of molded splash guards.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...plashfront.jpg I also added a rear plate frame & blacked out my bowties. |
The stripe project
After much looking & pondering, I decided I wanted stripes. Being the person I am though, I wanted something different from the standard rally stripes. I decided to mix up 2 kinds of stripes & make my own unique look. The first thing I did was lay everything out on the car using Christmas ribbon & masking tape.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0140.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0141.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0142.jpg I used this to get dimensions & make a CAD drawing of my stripes. I then printed this out & taped paper cutouts to the car to make sure everything was how I wanted it & that it was the proper size. I removed the dealer plaque off the rear bumper as well. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ro/front-1.png http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...aro/back-1.png http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...amaro/side.jpg I had a local vinyl shop make the stripes for me & I put them on myself. It's not that hard if you prep right & take your time. Here is the finished product. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0170.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0172.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1790.jpg http://www.camaro5.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=31438 |
Vanity Rings
While doing the stripes, I decided the silver vanity rings just weren't going to cut it. I really like the heritage wheels though & didn't want to swap them out.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=43273 So I made the decision to paint them orange as well. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=43274 Since then I've bought a second set of vanity rings & painted them black with an orange pinstipe. These were painted with spray paint & were just to see how it looked. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=43275 I like it, but prefer the solid orange ones. I mean how can this not make you drool? LOL http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1788.jpg |
Dash Kit
Now it was time to take my attention to the interior. I bought 2 dash kits & installed them.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1792.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1795.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1794.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_1793.jpg I also hard wired my radar detector to the overhead console while I was doing this. |
License Plate
I made the jump & got myself some vanity plates. If you know me in real life, these fit my personality well.

I like it dude sounds like an awesome build i wish i had one right now.

Question about your wheels. How did oyu paint them? I was going to order color matched cans of spray paint from a website I have and then clean the trim pieces, scruff them up with some steel wool just so the paint has something to adhere to, prime it, paint it orange, and then clear coat them. Is this what I should be doing? I have an orange LS and think the wheels would look good orange like yours. Feel free to PM me if you wish, I appreciate the help.

that's exactly how I did it...they did get some dings over the winter, so I'm going to repaint them soon...the best way though is to just have a shop do them...I may do that later this summer |

Very nice. I saw your car on the road the other day and the side markers caught my eye. VERY NICE.
Your exhaust sounds good too. I went with MRT V1, myself. I got the splash gaurds also, but have yet to install. Are they hard to put on. It does not look it, just looks to take a little time, and warm weather. |
Dyed stitching of black sport cloth seats
ok, so after see the thread on dying the stiching on the interior, I had to try it. I spent $6 for 3 fine tip fabric dye pens at Hobby Lobby
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0934.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0935.jpg I used one for the back seat & shifter boot, & one for each front seat...none ran out, but I wanted fresh tips...I did my best to stay on the stitching & keep off the cloth...I would do about 6" then blot with a dry cotton cloth (old sock)...DO NOT RUB, it can smear the dye into the cloth around the stitches...here is a pic of the back seat with half done http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0931.jpg and here are pics of the finished product http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0933.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0937.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0930.jpg & here is a close up shot...you can see a little bit of dye on the black, but from more than about a foot away, it's impossible to see http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_0938.jpg all told, it took me about 2 hours to do it all |
Looks good. I'd like to do that, but I don't have the patience for detail work.
|
That seat stitching looks awesome! Nice work! I see a purchase of red fabric dye markers in my future... :D
|
Dyno numbers
went today & here are the results...this is around 80 degrees & 65%humidity

Oh I saw your car at the Summit Racing Camaro Show!
Dude I know who you are now :)
My son and I went to the Camaro show and your car really stood out! I took a bunch of pix with my phone of all the cars there and every time I showed some one they always comment on how nice your car looks! When we got there on Saturday, I believe it was, it just started to rain. It only sprinkled for a couple minutes and every one was wiping thier cars down afterwards lol. I didn't actually pay the 10 bucks to be in the show so I parked on the other side of the store. There was no one around your car when I saw it. But the mod that stood out the most to me was your front turn signals. They looked killer. However the mod you have that I most want, besides the performance ones;) are the kickplates for the inside door panels! What an awesome idea! Where'd you get those? I am constantly scuffing that area up. Actually I put a deep gouge in that part of the door with my key the very first day i got my car :mad0259: so that piece would cover it quite nicely  Nice job making your car unique! You have done quite a bit of modding but your car still doesn't look over done like a lot of Camaros do:w00t: |
fender badge removal
ok, I was toying with the idea for awhile now & yesterday I went ahead & removed the fender badges. I wanted to take off the rear bow tie as well, but my car is one of the earlier 2010s that has the holes in the trunk lid, so I held off
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/100_3297.jpg |
Ghost cam
I loaded in my Trifecta tune & got a copy of it with the aggressive ghost cam...sorry about the license plate rattle
|
I just ordered my Trifecta Tune. I live in West Palm Beach FL and they are local to here.
Did you notice any HP gain, mpg gain, change in exhaust note? Nice build BTW. :headbang: |
Your car is looking great! I love your orange :)

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=84080 the cap wasn't fitting as tight as I liked, so I took the oring off the filler neck & did this http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...IMG_1965-1.jpg & the results are.... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...o/IMG_1962.jpg |
