cutting side vents

what would be the benefit, if any, of opening up the vents in front of the rear wheels? would that void any type of warranty if done?

the benefit would be that the inside of the car would get all wet when going through puddles or rain.

If the vents were cut open, it would lead into the car itself. So, it would be absolutely NECESSARY to make them completely functional if you were to cut them out. If not, water and all the elements would build up inside the panel and car itself causing potential rust problems, etc down the road. We wouldn't want that.

Now, if you wanted to make them fully functional, Al Oppenheiser said there would really be no benefit other than cosmetic. The rear brakes on this vehicle don't get hot enough to warrant true ventilating from those panels.

It would cost money to get it done, would look cool, but would not really give you benefit unless this was soley a RACE car.

your rust through warrenty would be void because you violated the integrety of the sheetmetal....

I can't believe someone started another thread about this.. please just search the threads there are a bunch on here just about the vents...

If you really do want to open the vents and make it safe and efficient, it's possible if you have the money. Behind them, you'd need to formulate a housing to surround the vents with a drain at the bottom that flows into another rain gutter and out of the bottom of the car. Still unnecessary for such a piddle mod, if you ask me. And they still wouldn't be functional. If you want them functional, then you also want rust.
