Help wife wants her rs to sound more aggressive

Wife would like her rs to sound more like my ss. I know it will never sound as good but is there a way to have it sound less like a weedwacker

BS it can't sell like an SS. Just engine swap to an LS3 :D. 426 hp LT/RS

Yes this combination is very aggressive and low tone and not raspy. I have a supercharged 6 making close to 500 crank hp go with OBX long tube headers, flow master axle back, and you must add the magma flow resonated x pipe to remove drone. If I didn't tell people mine was a v6 most wouldn't know I've been to tons of meets and shows at idle with the trifecta ghost cam. It sounded more aggressive than a stock 8.

MRT 2.0?

DagoCountyGee 05-17-2013 12:01 AM

A cold air intake, mrt 2.0 and headers...

2010summit 05-17-2013 12:36 AM

Mrt 2.0 and cold air sounds like a possibility thanks for the input.

Bigcros 05-17-2013 01:33 AM

Check out SLP's PowerFlow-X exhaust. My friend was totally surprised when he learned it was only 6 cylinders.

NorCalStorm 05-17-2013 01:48 AM

Borla ATAK??? if you are worried about drone then a touring exhaust might be more your style or if you have some extra money you could get that weird thing i think is called an h pipe or something like that that eliminates drone...

coreyaustin17 05-17-2013 01:59 AM

my first camaro was a 2lt i put mrt 2.0 injen cai and jba shorty header (no tune required and easy to install and it sounded really good unless you were a real car guy you wouldve never known good luck man

This...start with a CAI Inc Intake combined with the MRT 2...if she isn't happy then, add long tube headers.

two_wheel_mayhem 05-17-2013 02:56 AM

Check theYou tube videos. There has to be something out there that is tolerable.

Vroom_vroom 05-17-2013 04:48 AM

personally the loudmouth 1 was the only one that i thought had some low end rumble to it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWGRsawDCLQ

use headphones.

SD2011SS 05-17-2013 04:56 AM

Throw some long tube headers and high flow cats with an mrt v2 axelback.. add a good x pipe should do the trick

Mohamed Sharaf 05-17-2013 05:14 AM

Flowmaster and Magnflow are mostly like the standards one!! bit aggressive but no big difference!! I am still searching for very aggressive ones for my 2012 2LT but I can't find one with no drone at high speed!! I have been in one (2012 1LT) with Borla and at high speed noise is all over the place and of course you can imagine the drone!! Any help for my situation? :D

This is what I would recommend.

In Riyadh where I live now, it is always dusty, and sometimes it is super dusty like you can't see 2 meters ahead of you!! Would that be an issue if I install a CAI Inc Intake?

SlingShot 05-17-2013 07:04 AM

Give her the SS and get a new ZL1 or a 1LE ...

Saint_Shroomie 05-17-2013 07:15 AM

I made a bunch of playlists with examples of several different V6 exhausts here. Personally my favorite is the MRT 1.0. Just pick an exhaust and hit play.

No, why would it? If anything you will benefit more from it because of the added filter media and filtration. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks and take care!

Abomb1223 05-17-2013 08:10 AM

mrt2

family man 05-17-2013 08:12 AM

I would simply start with the MRT2 axle back if all she wants is a more muscular sound.

its true:bow:

menendez1293 05-17-2013 08:17 AM

MRT V2 will give a much deeper and aggressive sound. It won't sound like an 8 but I have gotten nothing but compliments on the sound since I installed mine

Mezzmo 05-17-2013 08:24 AM

CAI & MRT2 CAI & MRT2 CAI & MRT2
Wanted to make sure you got it.
This is what I did to mine, and I LOVE it. I don't think you can go wrong with this set up.

GretchenGotGrowl 05-17-2013 08:26 AM

Make a recording of your car, put it on a USB drive and let her play it continuously in her's. J/K.

Any sound clips of this?

vroomapunk 05-17-2013 09:05 AM

I know its a different engine, but on my old 98 RS 3.8l, I had it soundling pretty close to a V8 at idle and up to 2-3k rpm.

I had an intake, headers, and a good conservative muffler. The muffler is the key!

Get the engine flowing with an intake and headers, then use a conservative muffler. Dont go for some high flow, super loud muffler.

Mrt 2 and the cai seems to be most popular. I really like the idea for giving her my ss and getting a zl1. Wonder how that will go over. Thanks for all the imput.

Jalberdi99 05-17-2013 10:41 AM

just so you know, the RS is an appearance package. it does not mean it's a V6. you can have an SS/RS.

Been there done that, didn't work out the way you explained it ... I just got stuck with the SS.

FL1CK 05-17-2013 11:53 AM

Intake, headers, exhaust and ghost cam

I never heard a mean sounding V6. I think she's out of luck.

IBM camaro 05-17-2013 12:21 PM

Just because you haven't doesn't mean there isn't. Ill get a sound clip I got rid of the ghost cam so I can't show off the amazing lope that it had, but the superchager makes up for it

IrocJack 05-17-2013 04:35 PM

Magnaflow-yes !

rtcat600man 05-17-2013 07:34 PM

I am told once a week that my V6 sounds GREAT.

Here is a clip of me at the track.

Mods are listed in the signature.

This pass I ran 13.664 @ 100.88
