Help wife wants her rs to sound more aggressive
Wife would like her rs to sound more like my ss. I know it will never sound as good but is there a way to have it sound less like a weedwacker

Yes this combination is very aggressive and low tone and not raspy. I have a supercharged 6 making close to 500 crank hp go with OBX long tube headers, flow master axle back, and you must add the magma flow resonated x pipe to remove drone. If I didn't tell people mine was a v6 most wouldn't know I've been to tons of meets and shows at idle with the trifecta ghost cam. It sounded more aggressive than a stock 8.

MRT 2.0?
|
A cold air intake, mrt 2.0 and headers...
|
Mrt 2.0 and cold air sounds like a possibility thanks for the input.
|
Check out SLP's PowerFlow-X exhaust. My friend was totally surprised when he learned it was only 6 cylinders.
|
Borla ATAK??? if you are worried about drone then a touring exhaust might be more your style or if you have some extra money you could get that weird thing i think is called an h pipe or something like that that eliminates drone...
|
my first camaro was a 2lt i put mrt 2.0 injen cai and jba shorty header (no tune required and easy to install and it sounded really good unless you were a real car guy you wouldve never known good luck man

Check theYou tube videos. There has to be something out there that is tolerable.
|
personally the loudmouth 1 was the only one that i thought had some low end rumble to it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWGRsawDCLQ use headphones. |
Throw some long tube headers and high flow cats with an mrt v2 axelback.. add a good x pipe should do the trick
|
Flowmaster and Magnflow are mostly like the standards one!! bit aggressive but no big difference!! I am still searching for very aggressive ones for my 2012 2LT but I can't find one with no drone at high speed!! I have been in one (2012 1LT) with Borla and at high speed noise is all over the place and of course you can imagine the drone!! Any help for my situation? :D

Give her the SS and get a new ZL1 or a 1LE ...
|
I made a bunch of playlists with examples of several different V6 exhausts here. Personally my favorite is the MRT 1.0. Just pick an exhaust and hit play.

mrt2

I would simply start with the MRT2 axle back if all she wants is a more muscular sound.

MRT V2 will give a much deeper and aggressive sound. It won't sound like an 8 but I have gotten nothing but compliments on the sound since I installed mine
|
CAI & MRT2 CAI & MRT2 CAI & MRT2
Wanted to make sure you got it. This is what I did to mine, and I LOVE it. I don't think you can go wrong with this set up. |
Make a recording of your car, put it on a USB drive and let her play it continuously in her's. J/K.

Any sound clips of this? |
I know its a different engine, but on my old 98 RS 3.8l, I had it soundling pretty close to a V8 at idle and up to 2-3k rpm.
I had an intake, headers, and a good conservative muffler. The muffler is the key! Get the engine flowing with an intake and headers, then use a conservative muffler. Dont go for some high flow, super loud muffler. |

Mrt 2 and the cai seems to be most popular. I really like the idea for giving her my ss and getting a zl1. Wonder how that will go over. Thanks for all the imput.
|
just so you know, the RS is an appearance package. it does not mean it's a V6. you can have an SS/RS.

I never heard a mean sounding V6. I think she's out of luck.
|
Just because you haven't doesn't mean there isn't. Ill get a sound clip I got rid of the ghost cam so I can't show off the amazing lope that it had, but the superchager makes up for it

Magnaflow-yes !
|
I am told once a week that my V6 sounds GREAT.
Here is a clip of me at the track. Mods are listed in the signature. This pass I ran 13.664 @ 100.88 |
