Wheel repair.
Has anyone had any experience with a company called Wheels On Site for rim repair? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

let me know how this goes...

Frank in MD 06-11-2013 12:01 PM

We use them for rim repair. They're reputable, but mostly used by dealers. I had a conversation w/ one of their field techs this afternoon about repairing my wheel, he immediately asked what finish the wheel has. He knew to ask that and knew what it would take. Sanding, resurfacing, painting. He said $100 - $150 to fix, which I already knew, which is why I discounted my set by a buck fifty.... Seemed ok to me, then again that was one guy. There no telling how many good techs they employ vs. bad ones. So far, I say thumbs up.

They came out to do the job, and the tech said he'd rather not attempt it, since the front one is right on the outer edge. They don't dismount the tires, so he said to put the grinder that close to the tire is risking nicking the tire. Recommended another company called Alloy Wheel Repair. Anyone heard of them??

??? and how many curb rashes AREN'T near the tire????

Lame, real lame

Alloy did my rims, great fix on the metal, but the repaint was kinda cheap.looked like my lip was hand painted. You could see the brush strokes

The guys from Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists in Richmond come out to surrounding towns every few weeks. I dented an aftermarket rim on the track, so was getting a thump-thump-thump. Seemed very professional, good guys. I think they got it all out, but won't know for sure until I get my new tires on. Am trying to get the most out of my old tires and they are really uneven after many days on the track. Anyhow, from what I saw the AWRS guys took their time and did the best job possible - round to within 30/thousandths, as I recall, is what the guy said.

I am pretty sure these guys are also the mobile unit that fixed a deep chip in my rim when the garage drove it out from the lift (garage paid, so I don't know who did it). Amazing repair job. I have black matte finish Forgestars and you have to know exactly what you're looking for to find the repair spot, and even then only with a lot of searching.
