Cleaning Tires

Recently I've have had problems cleaning the wheels on my ZL1 and Meg D101 all purpose cleaner with a brush isn't cutting it. I still see the brown baked brake dust in the tire. I wanna make my tires pure black again but I'm stumped on this. Any ideas?

My Pirelli P Zeros had started getting the brown sidewall a few months after I bought the car. The dealer had put some kind of dressing on them when new. I didn't know how to get rid of the brown so I emailed Pirelli. They said to clean the tire with a mild soap and tire brush and NOT to use any tire dressing.

I put some Ivory Liquid soap in a bucket of water and got a tire brush at WalMart. After a good scrubbing, the brown was gone. I haven't used any tire dressing and the tires have not turned brown again yet.

I use the same car wash optimun on tires. I agree those armorall and tire black products decay to brown.

Do you stand behind that product? Would you get the kit with permanent tire shine which seems to hold up?

Just did mine this morning. Adams APC and a wheel brush followed by Adams VRT dressing.

This is my combo as well. I love VRT!

I use Simple Green to clean the tires then Meguiar's Hot Shine Tire Spray.

The Meguiar's Hot Shine works great on tires & plastics. Gives that deep black look without looking greasy.

Here's a curve ball....try Amazing Roll-Off that is a powerful multi-surface cleaner that will make your tires so clean that has the matted look that some folks like to see.

I would use armor all's foam cleaner, I use it for my ride, all I do is apply it to the tires and leave it. Its pretty nifty how well it cleans it. Give it a try

That hot shine tire spray is great. You just need to wipe off any access with a rag or foam pad before driving. I like it better than the Adams VRT. Not really impressed with the VRT when applied on the tires.
